Dear brother of Kumiko Ueda. Yuichi was a man of many colors. Like his name means, he had a heart-warming soul.

Nabesan, I miss you so much.
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

No words can wipe away the tears and grief, my deepest condolences goes to the entire Watanabe San family for this sudden loss. Watanabe San and his AOI was such a memorable and essential 8 years of my life in US. Not only I got to know many life long friends, but also Watanabe San made me feeling being in a big family! I will forever grateful for all the memories of those relentless busy nights, Watanabe San’s amazing cooking (even the wrinkly Temaki) and all the laughters back in the kitchen. May you find peace and comfort know that he was such a beautiful soul and brought many people around him smiles and warmth. Love, Peilei

My deepest sympathy to the Watanabe Family. My parents have known “Yu-chan” and Okusan longer then myself. My oldest memory is when I was about 5, there was a gathering with all the Japanese staff and he was still single. He met his future wife and he was chasing after her while everyone was departing. I remember watching this in the car because he had played with me at the gathering. I had called him “Watanabe Onichan” aka Big Brother. Little did I know, 15 years later I would be working for him at AOI in Center City and the title changed with respect- Watanabe san. Many memories have flooded back during my time there. He was shy and quiet but a great sense of humor and thoughtful. Thank you for being a part of my family’s life. Thank you for the many ride back home while being a poor art student.

P lease accept my sincere condolences on your husband's passing away. When we lived in New Jersey, we remember that Nabe san cooked very delicious meal at restaurant Aoi in Philadelphia. I enjoyed to play golf with Nabe san. We have a lot of good memories with Watanabe family. We want to go to NJ right away, but we cannot. We intend to be with Masako and her daughters all the time. Aki and Yoko from Japan.

I can’t thank him enough for having been my big boss for such a long time. I’m sure that he fully enjoyed his life, and started playing golf and supporting Philadelphia Eagles already up there. The photo was taken on November 6, 2019 at Haneda Airport a few hours before he flew back to US. Since it was two month before Corvid-19 started spreading out, It could have been his last day in Japan. Even though he was very hilarious and exciting, in one way, he was a shy man. But he wasn’t shy at all on that day at the airport as he was showing me photos from Kaede’s wedding and talking about it. He was a very very happy family man.
