William “Bill” Paul Tompkins
On January 6, 2026, of Glassboro. Age 91. Beloved husband of 68 years to the late Katherine, “Kay”. Devoted father of William (Mary Beth), Joseph (Roseann), and Kathyann Karpovich (George). Loving grandfather of Joseph, Dana, Kerri (Chad), Brittney (Rob), William (Samantha), and Lauren (Connor). Proud great-grandfather of Joseph, Chase, Emma, Bradley, and Cole. Dear brother-in-law of Francine Thomas, and the late Joseph Campagna. Cherished father-in-law of the late Deborah Tompkins.
Bill was a family man through and through. After leaving the Army, Bill & Kay raised their three children in South Philadelphia. Later they moved to Glassboro to continue his family legacy and enjoy more time with his family and friends after he retired from more than 30 years of service as a Squad mechanic at the ARCO/Atlantic/Sunoco refinery in South Philadelphia. He enjoyed having his friends and family surrounding him, whether it was a Saturday morning with his friends at McDonald’s or a Sunday night dinner with his family at home. Bill’s doors were always open. In the summer you could find Bill in North Cape May on his deck with a beer or fishing on his boat.
In the background of his house there was always Fox News playing and a lively political discussion happening. Bill loved politics and American history and would chat & debate with anyone.
Family and friends are welcome to attend his viewing Tuesday, January 13th 10:15 – 11:45 AM at SS. Peter & Paul Roman Catholic Church, 362 Ganttown Rd., Washington Twp. Mass of Christian Burial 12:00 PM. Interment Gloucester County Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Williamstown.
