Timothy I. McAteer, Sr.

On December 25, 2021 of Washington Twp. Age 78. Beloved husband of Bernadette (nee Campbell). Devoted father of Timothy McAteer, Jr. (Valerie), Thomas McAteer (Tami), Theresa Root (Brian), and Noel Lanting (Casper). Loving grandfather of 17. Proud great-grandfather of 3. Dear brother of Barney McAteer (JoAnne), Tommy McAteer (Maggy), Sally Hagey (Bob), Michael McAteer, and the late Patrick McAteer (the late Linda).

Tim loved Karate, he was a black belt and instructed Karate classes in his youth and into his 50’s. He loved watching sports and he coached basketball for his children for many years. He loved being on a boat, fishing and taking his children fishing/crabbing. He loved the beach and would spend as much time as he could on the beaches in Wildwood Crest every summer. He also enjoyed golfing with his friends, playing cards, and staying up to date with current events. He was a proud father of 4, grandfather of 17, and great-grandfather of 3. His greatest joy came from spending time with his family, hosting family dinners, and seeing his children and grandchildren play sports. He was an amazing storyteller and his friends always enjoyed listening to his stories and proud Pop Pop moments.

Family and friends are invited to attend his visitation Friday, January 7, 2022 9:00 – 11:00 AM at the Egizi Funeral Home, 119 Ganttown Road, Washington Twp. Funeral service 11:00 AM.

Bunny, we were so surprised and saddened to learn of Tim’s death. Unfortunately, I didn’t see the notice until a week after his funeral. We are sending our deepest condolences to you and your family. We have so many great memories of all of the fun times we shared over the years. You are all in our thoughts and prayers.

I was getting ready to write a card when I looked this up online and watched the video. Still crying! The McAteer Family has a special place in my heart - our childhood memories on Silver Birch were priceless. I am so sad and sorry for all of you. I know he got a great big greeting from Carole in Heaven! Wishing and praying for comfort and peace.

Thoughts and prayers to all of you. So many great memories of Silver Birch and Mr Mac. Sorry couldn't be there in person. Prayers for strength during this difficult time. Cheryl

At 9:55 PM on 12/25/2021 my heart broke. A piece of my heart will never return to me. I think this is how it goes as we get older (even tho I hate it with every fiber of my being). Bunny you & Tim welcomed me in to your home when Noel & I became friends as teenagers. Yes, we made stupid mistakes but that’s part of growing up. Our summers fishing off the boat in the Wildwoods will never be forgotten or the stories Tim shared. Fish grew by tenfold. I cannot remember a time showing up at the house and not hearing a story of some kind. Such an animated man full of life and love for his family. Tim a.ka. Mr. Mac will never be forgotten. His stories will live on forever. Sending, all my love to Bunny, Noel and the entire McAteer Clan on a whole.

So So Sorry to hear of the passing of Tim. We grew up together on Silver birch and we have wonderful memories. Our prayers go out to Bernadette and the wonderful family. Someone once told me "so sad he is gone but so glad he was here". RIP my friend

We were so blessed to get to know your dad. Pat enjoyed all the times the two of them would sit and talk about everything in the world. He was so sweet to Reiley and treated her as one of his own grandchildren. I have the wonderful memories of seeing him every day at pick up when the girls would get out of school. He will be so missed by us.

I was so saddened to hear of Tim’s passing. I didn’t know Tim well but my deceased husband Bob Turner certainly did. They both loved self defense and spent many years together teaching. They are now together in heaven sparring and telling stories like never before. Bunny please accept my condolences for you and your entire family. May God bring you peace during this sad time.

So sorry to hear of Tim’s passing . He always had a knack of making you feel at home when speaking with him. His bright smile always made you knew he was your friend. I will miss swapping stories with him of fun times in Wildwood. We offer our sincere condolences to his wife Bunny and all of his children and grandchildren. Rest In Peace dear friend.

Uncle Tom you will be sorely missed. I loved listening to your stories and spending time with you.

My brother Tim will be missed by all the lives he touched in so many ways. My heart aches for all of his family and friends. But the everlasting memories will never be far from our thoughts. Rest easy with the angels and keep watch over us all brother!
