Thomas J. Gill (Tom), passed away after a battle with cancer on November 12, 2017 at the age of 70. He was a devoted husband for 29 years to Ann (nee McGovern) who predeceased him on February 2, 1999. Beloved father of Thomas J. Gill, Jr. of Magnolia, TX, and Steven M. Gill, Sr. of Cochranville, PA. He is survived by his four grandchildren (Steven M. Gill, Jr., Jeffrey P. Gill, and Andrew M. Gill – Sons of Steven M. Gill, Sr., and Sydney A. Gill – Daughter of Thomas J. Gill, Jr.)
Tom was born in Philadelphia, PA on March 11, 1947, the son of the late Thomas W. and Tessie J. Gill. He spent his childhood in Philadelphia, PA, and attended St. Timothy’s and Maternity BVM Elementary schools and Father Judge High School. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Drexel University (formerly Drexel Institute of Technology). While attending Drexel University, he worked as a Co-operative Business Student from 1968 through 1970 with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).
After graduation in 1970, he worked full time with the IRS in Philadelphia until August 2000 when he took an IRS position in Dallas, TX to be with his significant other, Nancy C. Wright and has been with her until he passed. Tom held various positions with the IRS, retiring as a Senior Manager on January 3, 2008. During the 40 plus years with the IRS, Tom met and made many friends. Tom always commented that his friends were part of his family and really cherished the relationships he had with them.
Tom enjoyed scuba diving, riding his motorcycle, and working (playing) on his computer where he created DVDs and CDs of movies for friends and family. He also enjoyed travelling extensively with Nancy.
