On October 20, 2017 of Egg Harbor Twp., formerly of Washington Twp. Age 58. Beloved fiancé of Holly Gregory. Devoted son of Joseph Rimkis (Bernice), and Barbara Gantz (George). Dear brother of Joe, Bob, Jim and their families Rimkis.

Steve was an extraordinary life force with an uncommon understanding of people. He was a fiercely loyal and kindhearted friend quick with words of encouragement for those he loved. His fun loving nature, unique sense of humor and gift for inclusion made him the life of the party. He made friends everywhere he went.
Enlisted in the USMC as a member of the 32d MAU, Steve was present for the bombing at the American embassy in Beirut, Lebanon. He was pictured on the front page of the Washington Post and Philadelphia Inquirer standing amid the rubble.
Steve had finally found happiness and contentment in his life. He loved his family, kids, animals, music, nature, carpentry, working around the house and riding his motorcycle.
He will be sorely missed by his core of lifelong friends whom he deeply loved.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Steve’s memory may be made to Veterans helping Veterans, P.O Box 337, Woodbury, NJ 08096.

Having been a life long friend and "sister from another mother" as he called me, I will miss him terribly. When he loved you, he loved you with all his heart. I am glad I spent his final minutes here on Earth having a great, loving conversation with him. Rest in peace my friend. Dori

My heart goes out to all the Rimkis family. I grew up with Steve in Bells Lake and have many great memories of hanging out with him. RIP Marine.

I want to share my condolences with family and friends. Also wanted to share an example of Steve's gift of inclusion. There was a remembrance luncheon at the VFW in Blackwood last year. I was nervous to step foot in the building due to severe anxiety and not being a veteran myself. After hanging out front with some guys, I went in. Steve got up, walked over to me and said, "I know you...but where from". Up to that point I had only met Steve once at FPS. He pointed over to the table he was sitting at with his friends and told me to sit with them after I get my food. His actions put me at ease and it felt good to be sitting with some of the best people. Steve will be sorely missed. - Jere.
