On March 22, 2024, of Washington Twp. Age 16. Beloved daughter of Frank and Mary (nee McLaughlin) Bennett. Dear sister of Mary and Frankie. Loving granddaughter of John and Sophie McLaughlin and Annamarie and the late Frank Bennett. Cherished niece of Liz and Iris McLaughlin, Vincent McLaughlin, Theresa Santana and the late John McLaughlin.

Family and friends are invited to attend her viewing Monday 9:00 am – 1:00 pm at St. Charles Borromeo Roman Catholic Church, 176 Stagecoach Road, Washington Twp. Mass of Christian Burial 1:00 pm. Interment St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Chews Landing.

I knew Sophia and the Bennett family for years swimming with them at Whitman Square and I also swam with Sophia last year during my senior season. She was such a kind soul. Always having a smile on her face and being a great older sister to her siblings. She was always cheering on her teammates and was always there for them. It was a pleasure having her as a teammate for so long and my heart hurts for her family with this loss. Her family has always shown such kindness towards mine. Overall, Sophia was an amazing person and anyone that had the pleasure to know her should consider themselves lucky. Rest Easy Soph.

I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of precious young Sophia. She was so sweet, so kind and generous to her many friends. Her smile was radiant and she turned heads young and old alike wherever she went. She was in the prime of her youth and had so much yet to offer the world, when her life was suddenly cut short at the tender age of 16. This poor girl didn't deserve such a cruel end to her young life. May our memories of Sophia bring us comfort for years to come.

Sophia was such a wonderful person. Every time I would talk to her, she always managed to make me smile. :) I've known Sophia since 4th grade (about 6 years) and we have been friends ever since. Since we went to different high schools , we didn't talk nearly as much as before which I regret. Her presence lit up a room which was hard to dim. Every year, I would go to her birthday party which was usually a sleepover, and she would always do the craziest and most amazing things. Her family is also amazing. Her mom is so welcoming, her siblings were so nice and her extended family always made everyone feel included. One memory that I wanted to share was when we were back in 4th grade. We knew each other for about a year thus far. Around the last week of school, our teacher, Mrs. Natale told us we could move our seats anywhere in the room. All of the kids decided to move their desks to the side of the room in their little friend groups. As soon as she said it, me and Sophia looked at each other, almost like we already knew what we were going to do. We took our desk and moved them to the front and center of the room. Just the two of us. We then took a piece of poster paper and wrote "Dynamic Duo" on it. and stuck it on our desks. And that is where we sat for the remainder of the school year. Sophia's lost was very heartbreaking, but all the memories I hold with her will always overcome the sadness. It has been very tough knowing she isn't here anymore, but her legacy will live on. She made such an influence on so many people. It was hard to not like her. Fly high Sophia, and rest in peace. You were loved and will continue to be loved by so many.
