Beautifully said. Thank you.
Beautiful Tom I love this and i loved Aunt Lena!
Sonny was the kind of person you do not meet every day. He was quick of wit and sharp of mind. He knew how to make someone comfortable and feel warm in his presence. I found this out the first time I met him and am only sorry I did not meet him sooner. My son Brian would go in the morning after his work and hang out with him for a few minutes in his 'office' the garage. Whenever we needed someone to come work on the home or do work in the yard, Sonny was the man you would see to find out who could do a good and responsible job. Our deepest sympathies go out to Joanne and his family for the loss of a truly wonderful man.

Dad, I rememberd everything you told me for the last 52 years. When you spoke I did listen as did others. How to slice a watermelon, how make a great cheesesteak on the grill @Joe's Steaks (9th &Wharton Sts), When to order the christmas trees in October for December 10th delivery. Where to order the palm's in Florida. Who to purchase whiskey barrels from in Tennessee. "Joey always make sure we had plenty of mafia movies in the video store" Who to call in Italy for more crushers and squeezers the list goes on and on.... How to set up a business no matter what it was. Sonny always said watch the pennies and the dollars will watch themselves. For a man with very little education you were a fountain of information for me and your family, and our success in our business' today is all because of you. Dad you were very street smart and very street educated and I thank you for my education. Love you always you were truly a mans man.
I will always think of the good times we shared as kids growing up together, the crazy things we did on 9th st., and when we went on double dates to Willow Grove park with my friends from Northeast philly and his friends South philly, WOW do I have to say more lol. I will miss you Sonny ,rest in peace,my prayers are with you. love you, cousin Rosemarie
My brother Sonny, who is not in good health, and his family asked me to post their sincere condolences to the Vigilante family. He shared more than a first name with his cousin. He shared much of his childhood with Sonny, and they--along with Rosemarie who posted above, and Sonny's beloved sister Louisa--were "always together" as kids. "I have so many good memories of those years," my brother said, "please tell Joanne and the whole family how sorry I am for their loss. Our prayers are with them. Sonny was like a brother to me when we were growing up. I'll miss him. Send our love to all."
He certainly enjoyed spending time at the mountain house with you and your family... Boom boom Joe :purple_heart:
He was so special to so many people... And we cherish every one of those stories. :purple_heart:
So beautiful, thank you Marie.
With deepest sympathy to the Vigilante family.

We would like to express our deepest condolences to Joanne, Angel, Jacci, Joe, and Louisa, and to all the Vigilante family and friends. Our prayers and sympathy are with all of you. When I think of my cousin, Sonny, the first thing that comes to mind is his quick wit and obvious love for making others laugh; he loved having fun and spreading joy to others. My very fondest memories of Sonny are when he would visit my mother, his dearly departed Aunt Lena, and the absolute delight he took in teasing her and making her laugh--he could do it with the best of them. And it was obvious that she enjoyed the teasing and their playful banter was always fun to watch. Another of Sonny’s easy to observe passions was his obvious love for his wife, Joanne, their children, and grandchildren. He was clearly proud of his three children and the wonderful people they have become. If you were at his 70th birthday celebration you surely noted that his family’s love for Sonny was boundless and joyfully expressed. So to say Sonny will be missed is an understatement--you will be greatly missed, Cuz! And, if you get the chance up there in heaven, and I have no doubt you will...tease your Aunt Lena for me, will you? Rest in Peace, Sonny! Love, Tom, Carol and family.
We are so blessed to have known Somny, even though he liked Edgie more lol. He will be deeply missed! He was a great person! Your family is in our prayers.
Love, Edgie and Donna
My sincerest sympathies to Joanne, Jackie, Joseph, Angel and the entire family on the loss of our beloved Sonny. Memories of Sonny could fill volumes in my mind and in my heart. Regardless of if you were with Sonny playing bankers and brokers on Bunting Place, or spending a weekend in the Poconos relaxing or shooting guns, or visiting with the family when they moved to South Jersey, Sonny was always there and his heart and style were always South Philly - full of warmth, laughter, and generosity. There was one memorable night celebrating New Year's Eve at a party Sonny hosted at the Italian Import Store full of fun, good food and very exciting events throughout the evening which I will never forget. Through my relationship with Sonny as a forever cousin, it was obvious that family was the most important side of life to Sonny. Close behind was his loyalty to his closest friends. I know that Sonny is in heaven today, with his faithful German Shepard lovingly named "Satan" today having a grand reunion there with his Mom and Dad and all that went before him.. RIP with all my love to you and your beautiful and extended family I know you will feel their love in your spirit forever.
Yo, Cuz
Love,
Cousin Bob
My rescue dog Jazmine could hear Sonny's music a block away and pulled me down to the house for some loving from Sonny. There was something special about him that she loved, much like most of us did. We'll miss Sonny a lot, he always laughed a lot.
All our love and prayers, Carole and Gary Watson
My fondest memories of Sonny were that he always made me laugh! You knew that when you were going to visit him you would share many stories that would make you laugh out loud and even the next day you would crack up laughing while thinking about the joke he told or the story he told. But mostly what a wonderful cousin he was! We knew that whatever you needed help with Sonny was the man to help you out. He was loving, caring, and knew how to keep our family close. What can I say but I loved him with all my heart and I will miss him a lot and will miss his special "hey cuz how ya doing" when he answered the phone. Rip my special cousin! Marie
Dear Joann, Joey & Donna, Jackie & Rich, Angel & Jay, and all the grand kids, Sonny will be greatly miss in Bridlewood. I know I will miss him dearly. I never worried about living here because I knew Sonny was across the street. I will miss the "50" & "60"'s music coming the garage in the morning. I will miss "Good morning sweetheart, how are you this morning"! He was my guardian angel. I will pray for Sonny in my rosary as I take my walk. He was very proud of all of you. You were his world. Thank you all for being so kind to me over the past 12 years.
I love you all. Anne Kollar
Dear Aunt Jo, cousins, Jacci, Joseph and Angel and your wonderful families,
Uncle Sonny will always be remembered with great love. Growing up in this great family was so much fun and we all share so many wonderful memories. I will always remember how special Uncle sonny made me feel each Christmas, when he would pin the most beautiful flower and ornament corsage on my coat collar to wear throughout the season of Advent. He made me feel like a princess. And now, whenever I see a glittered Christmas bell I think of those corsages and Uncle Sonny. I cherished those moments as a child. Thank you Uncle Sonny for all the great family times. All my love, gratitude, and prayers will follow you forever.
Ken celebrated mass Saturday as a deacon and included Uncle Sonny in the prayers of the faithful and at benediction, so many prayers are being said for him.
Love always,
Niece Barbara, Ken, Michael and Elizabeth
