Salvatore “Sam” Greco, on December 10, 2020 of Washington Twp. Age 93. Beloved husband of Ann M. (nee Cardano). Devoted father of Nancy Lucidonio (James) and Richard Greco (Kathryn). Loving grandfather of Jonathan, Christina, Jaclyn, Victoria, and Micaela. Proud great-grandfather of Chase, Landon, Knox, Ander, and Aria. Dear brother of Anthony Greco.
A native Philadelphian, Sam was an avid fan of Philadelphia sports, especially Phillies baseball. He was especially thrilled when the Phillies won the World Series in 1980 and 2008.
He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II, stationed in Alaska. After the war, he met and married Ann (Cardano) and settled in Folcroft, Pennsylvania, where they raised a son (Richard) and a daughter (Nancy). He worked in the graphic arts industry as a typesetter for 45 years, including 25 years at Havertown Printing.
Family was the central essence of Sam’s life. He was proud and honored to be the husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather of our family. In his youth, he loved fishing, crabbing and making wine with his father. In his adult years, he enjoyed bowling, playing pinochle, and casino-hopping with his wife and best friend of 65 years, Ann. He was a softball coach and rarely missed a game or concert for his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed “catching up” with extended family at holiday gatherings with good food, wine and football.
He was predeceased by his parents, Salvatore and Nancy (DeCarlo) Greco, and is survived by his beloved brother, Anthony.
Sam will be forever remembered for his beautiful smile, gentle eyes, caring heart, loving embrace and unconditional love. Although our hearts are heavy, we will celebrate his life and find comfort that he is in heaven and watching over us.
Family and friends are invited to attend his viewing Wednesday 10:00 AM-12:00 PM at the Egizi Funeral Home, 119 Ganttown Rd., Washington Twp. Funeral service 12:00 PM. Interment, Gloucester County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Williamstown.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Salvatore’s memory may be made to “Veterans Helping Veterans” Veteran’s Advisory Council, P.O. Box 337 Woodbury, NJ 08096.
