Ruth Estelle Murphy (Jackson) passed away December 4th surrounded by her family, of Washington Twp. Age 88. Beloved wife of Thomas R. Devoted mother of Margaret Mulherin (Francis), Stephen Murphy (Kathleen), Patricia Madden (Fred), Mary Kay Fitzgibbon, Susan Hopkins (Richard), Matthew Murphy (Michelle) and the late Tommy Mike. Loving grandmother of Megan, Mollie, Erin, Tricia, Casey, Maureen, Daniel, Hillary, Lauren, Freddy, Kyle, Shane, Colin, Ryan, Shane, Brianna, Brendan and Haley. Proud great-grandmother of Kyra, Jace, Sera, Emily, Nora, Kaylee, Tommy, Ryan, Alyssa, Mikey, Ava-Jo, David, Madeline, Jeffrey, Alana, Adam, Matteo, Mia, Andrew, Declan, Emma and Everly Faith.

Born September 9, 1929 in Philadelphia to Edward and Mollie Jackson. She was one of three children, a brother Edward and her twin sister Marge. Ruth moved to South Jersey in the early 60’s and with her husband raised their growing family. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She held various jobs during her life but was primarily a homemaker who enjoyed hosting her ever growing family on the holidays. Later in her life her role changed from host to guest dividing her time between her family. She enjoyed traveling to Florida, Germany, Venezuela and Barbados; and was an avid reader.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing Sunday 7:00 – 9:00 PM and Monday 8:15 – 9:15 AM at the Egizi Funeral Home, 119 Ganttown Road, Washington Twp. Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 AM at SS. Peter & Paul RC Church, Washington Twp. Interment Gloucester County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Williamstown.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Ruth’s memory may be made to Veterans Helping Veterans, Veteran’s Advisory Council, P.O. Box 337, Woodbury, NJ 08096. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.egizifuneral.com.

Bonnie and Rich Fowler always enjoyed our weekly lunches with Ruth and Tom at the Whitman Diner, and dinners at the Meadows Diner in Blackwood. Occasionally we had dinner at IHOP, but Tom was not so happy there. We will miss you every day!

Having known Ruth for almost 50 years was knowing a truly loving person. Never going without a smile and pleasant word. My heart goes out to her husband Tom and her entire family. God bless her and keep her in His house for eternity. Dominick Mazzitelli

Dear Mr.Murphy,Patty. And family. I'm so very sorry for the loss of your Mom. She was such an amazing lady. I'm one of the lucky kids that met her in 1963( Inthink) when I still lived in Clifton. But came to our cousins ever Sunday. Although she had plenty of her own kids ,she always treated me just like another. Always! I remember walking to the 7/11 for slerpies and we had to cross in front of your house so she could see us. . I'm very blessed to have shared my childhood with such a wonderful person. I had the privilege of knowing Ruth most of my life. I grew up behind her house. After my mom passrd..I moved back. It was wonderful chatting at the back fence again! I will miss her!! A well loved lady!! Rest easy Ruth!!
