Ron Winsett left a message on December 1, 2013:
Russ and I played on the left side of the baseball diamond in high school. He had a gun for an arm and was a clutch hitter. He was a great relief pitcher as well. He amazed me the way he could play deep in the hole at shortstop and casually rifle a ball to first to beat the runner. Indoors, he was a fantastic basketball player and could shoot from anywhere on the floor. Although it has been many years since we saw each other I will always have fond memories of a great athlete, gentleman and friend. Rest in peace my good buddy you will always remain in my thoughts. I'm so sorry for your loss. The scripture that gives me much comfort and hope is what Jesus said at John 11:25 "I am the resurrection and the life. The one exercises faith in me, even though he dies, will come to life." Jesus not only has the power by means of his Father Jehovah but also the desire to resurrect our dead loved ones. What a beautiful hope!

Russ was a person that once you met him... he was unforgettable. His laughter was from the soul, his smile gave off warmth, his eyes had a twinkle, his humor was priceless. My heart is saddened by this loss of such an amazing man. He always made Barb's friends feel at home...where it was at the Christmas Cookie exchanges or when we all gathered for Maureen and Joe's 25th Anniversary Party. Barb ... My prayers and thoughts are with your family as God's love sees you through this time of great sorrow. With Love, Dawn and Bill Haynes
