Rosalia Taormina
(nee Amoroso) On July 18, 2026, of Blackwood. Age 77. Beloved wife of the late Giuseppe. Loving companion of Antonio Barretta. Devoted mother of Josephine DiLorenzo (the late Pietro), Franca Taormina, Luigi Taormina, Salvatore Barretta (Natalie), and the late Benedetto (Gina). Loved by her grandchildren, Pietro, Danny, Alyssa, Angelo, Julianna, Gianni, Aviana, Dominic, Salvatore, Vincenzo, Giovanni, Peirangela, and Salvatore. Proud great-grandmother of Gavin, Lorenzo, Luca, Gaia, and Azzurra. Sister of Aldo Amoroso (Maria Giovanna) and Antonia Amoroso. Loved by many nieces, nephews, extended family members and close friends.
Rosalia was a woman who found joy in caring for others. Whether it was through a home cooked meal, a spotless home, a flourishing garden, or the quiet kindness she showed to animals, she expressed her love through her actions every single day.
She took immense pride in her home, keeping it warm, welcoming, and beautifully cared for throughout the year – she wouldn’t go a single day without cleaning the home. Cooking for her family brought her happiness, and some of her fondest memories were made on summer trips to Wildwood when her children were young. Rather than staying in hotels, the family would camp together in their conversion van, simple moments that became cherished lifelong memories.
She had a remarkable green thumb and found peace tending to her backyard garden, growing everything from string beans and squash to figs. Her backyard was also a haven for stray cats, whom she lovingly fed and cared for, reflecting the compassion that was such a defining part of who she was.
Although she made her life in the United States after immigrating from Sicily 47 years ago, Sicily always remained close to her heart. She treasured every opportunity to return and visit her family, maintaining the deep bonds to the place and people she never forgot.
Above all else, she will be remembered for her devotion to her family, her generous heart, her tireless work ethic, and the quiet ways she made everyone around her feel loved and cared for. Her warmth, kindness, and unwavering love will live on in the countless memories she created with those fortunate enough to know her.
Family and friends are welcome to attend her viewing Friday, July 24th 3:00 – 4:30 PM at the Egizi Funeral Home, 119 Ganttown Rd., Washington Twp. Funeral service 4:30 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Rosalia’s memory may be made to Our Lady of Hope Parish, 701 Little Gloucester Rd., Blackwood, NJ 08012.
