Miss you buddy, never met you in person but we shared a connection over U2. The last thing we talked about was strongly disliking the song Ahimsa

Rob you were like a brother to me . We were as close as can be Joy and I will miss you terribly. I still can't believe you're gone. I'm going to miss talking to you first thing in the morning everyday. Going to your house and hanging out and forcing me to watch one U2 video after another. But I got you back by bringing you to the YES concert. I'll never forget you. We made so many plans for the future but you will always be with us. I will see you on the other side. I love you brother.

John Crist left a message on July 28, 2021:
We're always saying "My condolences" on facebook over tragic news, but this is truly MY condolence. Rob was a good friend and concert buddy of mine, and often the new wave dancing fool next to me on the dance floor at our beloved nightclub 'Sanctuary'. We even shared a birthday together - he was always the first to send me mutual well-wishes on that day. We drifted apart as the clubs changed and the U2 tours dwindled, but we always stayed in touch. Rob will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Peace.

Rob Giannotti It's been a few days and I still can't wrap my head around this. This wasn't supposed to happen...the book is only half done. 28 years wasn't enough...we shared this band and I haven't listened to a new release without you since Pop. I just can't process this...My heart hurts...I can't breathe and can't fathom a U2 album or tour without you. We shared some of the very best memories together on our U2 journey. The endless nights and road trips. Us waiting for hours in GA lines, meeting B for the first time in NYC and driving home listening to the new album you scored the day before release. The nights at The Sanctuary and us bring VHS tapes for DJ Steven Singer to play just video footage of U2 shows while we had a drink pretending we were at a club in Dublin. I could go on forever. We shared something special, something bigger than the both of us. We belonged to the same tribe... I'll love you forever Rob...You will live with me forever...oh god this hurts so bad. I just wanted to talk one last time. I wanted you to beat this and us to be planning the next tours road trips. We fought because we were sometimes so much alike, like that song we both loved says. Brother, friend, I will miss you until my last breath... I'll see you again when the stars fall from the sky... And the moon has turned red over One Tree Hill ....? We turn away to face the cold Enduring chill As the day begs the night For mercy love The sun so bright It leaves no shadows Only scars, carved into stone On the face of it The moon is up And over one tree hill We see the sun go down In your eyes You run like a river On like a sea You run like a river Runs to the sea And in the world, a heart of darkness A fire zone Where poets speak their heart Then bleed for it Jara sang, his song a weapon In the hands of one Though his blood still cries From the ground It runs like a river Runs to the sea It runs like a river To the sea I don't believe in painted roses Or bleeding hearts While bullets rape the night Of the merciful I'll see you again when the stars Fall from the sky And the moon has turned red Over one tree hill We run like a river Runs to the sea We run like a river To the sea And when it's raining Raining hard That's when the rain will Break my heart Raining, raining in the heart Raining in your heart Raining, raining to your heart Raining, raining, raining Raining to your heart Raining (Ooh, ooh) To your heart To the sea Oh, great ocean Oh, great sea Run to the ocean Run to the sea

No words can express the pain that everyone is going through right now especially his family. Almost everyone called him Rob , I for one called him Robbie (and he laughed). When he was not working he would be in the 'Blue Room'. Robbie doted on his lovely daughter Jessica . He was a good father . He was a funny man too , loved to impersonate and make us laugh. Miss you Robbie. RIP Then again Those we love dont go away They walk beside us every day Unseen, unheard but always near So loved , so missed, so very dear.

I am so sorry to hear this news. I met Rob in the late 90s at a bar we both used to frequent. Over the years, he got some of my parents' furniture and lent my visiting cousin "the most amazing U2 concert video" (so long ago that it was still on video tape). He and Jess went black Friday bargain hunting with me & my family a few years and came over for game night. We were all friends for a lot of years and he will be missed.

My dear friend Rob, I hope you know how much your friendship meant to me. I'm going to miss our chats, the phonecalls in the middle of the night ( because you sometimes forgot the 6 hr time difference between us ), your kindness and your sometimes wicked sense of humor. Your passing is not only a huge loss to your family but also for the U2 tribe! The #U2clubnite-gang will be incomplete without you dear Rob. My heart goes out to your beautiful daughter Jessica and to your beloved family. Rest in peace my dear friend and play our favorite tune "Bad" for me once in a while. You will be missed more then you will ever know..."I will see you again when the stars fall from the sky" "The Rockstar" aka Ini, Groningen, The Netherlands.

You were the first one to really welcome me to the U2 online community. You were full of immense talent, humor, knowledge and kindness. Like I would tell you over and over again, you helped revive my love for our band. You were the reason that I got the courage to listen to SOE for the first time. I'm forever grateful to have met you. Thank you Rob. I'll never forget you. My prayers are with your beautiful daughter and your family. Rest well my friend.

My dear friend, You gave so much of yourself to the U2 family and there is denying it. I had a great time catching up with you at the Newark show and for me you always had your spirit and soul with those four lads from Dublin who we all love. Your kindness and gracious and your friendship is going to be really missed. I am really going to miss you and I was so much looking forward to going to Europe and seeing the lads perform there with you. Rest in peace dear friend and U2 brother. I am still having a hard time with your loss and this has not been easy for any of us who knew you and where friends. Sending hugs and love to your friends and family. Stephen and Marly Dorsett

My thoughts and prayers go out to the Gianotti family. Knowing Rob, as a U2 chat family pal, he’d quote the song Kite where it says “ I don’t want to see you cry, I know this is not goodbye.” It is not a goodbye, he’s watching us now from heaven, looking over his loved ones. May he give you all the strength to get through these difficult times. You can now rest without being in pain Rob, you’re an Angel watching down on us. My condolences to all the Gianotti family, may you be strong during this tough time.

My amazing big brother. I’m going to miss how protective you were of me. I’m going to miss Sunday dinners, our September birthday celebrations, holidays and U2 concerts with you. I’m going to miss all the music, movies, and shows that you would always share with me. I’m going to miss your crazy sense of humor. I know you’re in good hands now with Grandmom and Grandpop, and you are all watching over us. You were taken from us way too soon, but you will stay forever in our hearts. I know this is not goodbye…. Love you always, Bobby.

Rob was responsible for connecting people across the globe when we would gather in his aptly named “Blue Room Group” to watch his produced fan film streaming of U2 performances from various tours . I have some very dear friends due to his group and all of us sharing our love for U2. More importantly ; he was so proud of his daughter Jessica and all of her achievements as she grew up. He was one proud dad beaming with joy. Words cannot express how thankful I am that I chose to partake in his group . God needed him before we were ready ; he’s in your hands now …please guide him on his heavenly journey . Tracy, Wadsworth, Ohio

A true angel, my protector. There will never be a day that I don’t miss you dad. I love you with my entire heart. You did so much for me and I hope you know how much I appreciated it all. Every time you’d make the long drive to come see me so that we could spend a few days together. My heart is broken but I know you’re watching over all of us. I’d give anything and everything to have just one more day of sunshine with you. We could listen to your favorite songs, go out to our favorite restaurant or walk around the park together that we love, and then to end it off maybe some Star Wars on the movie screen with gabby. You were so loved. We’re all going to get through this together. You showed us how important family really is. How crucial it is to be there for one another. I’m so sorry to anyone who shares this loss. My dad made me who I am, and I know that he’s greatly impacted so many people in his life. I love you dad. ❤️
