Bob was in the Navy during WWII and the Korean War. After the Navy he worked as a machinist at both the Brooklyn and Philadelphia Naval Yards. He had a passion for woodworking, designing and building wooden crafts. He spent many years making wooden toys for his grandchildren and various charities. For many decades he devoted his time and energy serving the poor through the St Vincent DePaul Society. In his later years he stayed active by volunteering to prepare income tax returns for seniors through AARP. He loved playing cards with friends and family. Day trips to the Atlantic City casinos with Florence was a highlight of his retirement along with visits to his children and grandchildren. Bob always joked that he “disliked” children and animals, but he was happiest surrounded by his large family and menagerie of pets.
