Robert Burke was born on March 3, 1964 in Sea Isle City, NJ, and was the cherished son of Dorothy and Francis Burke. Bob was a beloved brother to Francis Burke Jr. (Linda Burke), Barbara Shevlin (Dave Shevlin) and Traci Badiali (Mark Badiali), a loving father to Robert Burke Jr. (Samantha Burwell) and Joseph Wames (Janae Wames), and devoted grandfather to Jackson and Julianne Wames, and caring uncle to many nieces and nephews. As a young child, he enjoyed playing baseball and football.
Bob graduated from Washington Township High School in 1982 and proceeded to attend Gloucester County Community College. Subsequently, Bob served as a 911 dispatcher at the Washington Township Police Department from 1987 to 1999. During his time as a 911 dispatcher, Bob received many commendations for outstanding effort and dedication to service. Bob additionally performed data management services for the Washington Township Police Department. He continued his dedication to customer service in positions at Liberty Mutual Insurance Company and The Fireplace People.
Bob was a loving father, son and friend, who always had a story and laugh to share. He enjoyed spending days in Sea Isle at the beach, or at no shower happy hour with Jerry Blavat at La Costa. He enjoyed watching the Phillies and Eagles and was “passionate” in his feelings towards the teams. He was never afraid to “boo” the players at the games with his sons or nephews. Bob never missed any family event and was always sure to be the first to arrive. Bob will be remembered for his laughter and light. Bob loved his family and friends and will be cherished by all.
Family and friends are invited to attend his visitation Friday 9:00-10:00 AM at the Egizi Funeral Home, 119 Ganttown Road, Washington Twp. Funeral service 10:00 AM.
