I am so sorry for your loss. I just found out yesterday that Bob passed and I missed attending his funeral. As I can't drive long distances, Bob drove and he and I shared long car rides about four times a year, for years, traveling to Pennsylvania, the Trenton area, Middlesex, New Jersey and other upper New Jersey areas to attend match cover events. I always enjoyed the conversations about his school board work, what movies he'd seen with his grandson, the baseball field he was working on, and, of course, his involvement with the veterans. I remember his telling me he was so delighted about getting Ms. New Jersey (I believe) to attend a veterans function on one of the veteran holidays. He was also delighted to get the school kids to hand out packages to the veterans. He was a kind, caring, and generous man. I shall miss him and our talks.

Saw the obituary too late to attend the viewing. Very sad to read about my friend passing. Bob was a very good man who cared about everyone and especially cared about Washington Twp. Our town will be lesser without him. Last Sam Adams quote until we meet again: “The liberties of our country, the freedoms of our civil Constitution are worth defending at all hazards; it is our duty to defend them against all attacks. We have received them as a fair inheritance from our worthy ancestors. They purchased them for us with toil and danger and expense of treasure and blood. It will bring a mark of everlasting infamy on the present generation – enlightened as it is – if we should suffer them to be wrested from us by violence without a struggle, or to be cheated out of them by the artifices of designing men.” -- Samuel Adams

It is with deep sorrow to hear of Bob’s passing. I’ve known Bob since we were both young and full of energy, both wanting to make our the town the best it could me. While not always agreeing on some political issues, we always had a mutual respect for one another, a shared vision for a better Washington Township, and faith in our fellow man. Bob worked on many, many projects over the years that helped make our town a better place to live, work, and raise a family. We have lost a True Treasure, a dedicated champion for veterans, a caring neighbor, and a dear friends. He will be missed dearly.
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

I have had the pleasure to know Bob for over 42 years. He and Eileen were the most truthful, honest and trusted people I have had the pleasure of meeting and associating with. Bob and I stayed in touch and talked frequently as late as approximately 1 month ago. I also served with him in VFW Post 6332 prior to moving to Delaware. I knew his daughters, all of whom I have a great appreciation for because they were always mannerable. I know that he is with GOD and has joined Eileen in the heavenlies.

Mr. Abbott was a gem. He had a lovely, calm manner and was always kind to everyone. While on the WT Board of Education, he took pride in his position. He attended all the classes and workshops available to become an NJSBA Certified Board Leader and Master Board Member. He was a pleasure to work with. On a personal level, he would always take time to chat and share his personal life. He was always dedicated to his wife, his children, and grandchildren; and you knew by the way he talked about them how much they were loved. I will miss him.

I was sorry to hear of Bob's passing. What a nice, laid-back guy he was. He was a good friend of my husband, Robert Rigney. They had a long friendship and enjoyed their regular TNJ drivers luncheons. I was lucky to have been invited to two of those luncheons - thanks to Bob. I know he will be missed by many.

Thank you for always being the father and grandfather to the kids that they never had. You will always remain that within us. Your proud patriotism shine through and has led Nyssa to further her career in the military. Besides always being there holidays good days bad days. I think the biggest proudest moment for myself is when you shook my husbands hand and told him to treat me right or you would be there and you have no idea how much that made me so proud to know that you were honestly there as my father figure and I cherish that moment since that day and I appreciate everything from the very day that we met you and your family has excepted our family as one. You are absolutely a Great man! You are absolutely beyond a proud Husband,Father and Grandfather!! Your light will always remain shining!! We love and miss you.
