Robert Daniel Parks of Rice Township, PA, passed away on October 27, 2009, at the home of his daughter, Deborah Parks of Sewell, NJ. He was born in Glen Lyon, PA, and was the son of the late Harold and Sarah nee Oplinger Parks. After graduating from Newport Township High School, he served 22 years in the United States Air Force in communications. He retired with the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. He then worked at MetLife Insurance Company and Hud Redevelopment Authority. He graduated from LCCC with an associate’s degree, a bachelor’s degree from College Misericordia, and a master’s degree in education from the University of Scranton. He served on the Crestwood school board and was a member of the American Legion Post 781 Mountain Top, VFW Post 7918 Slocum Township, and Irem Shriners Dallas Pennsylvania.
Robert is survived by his wife Margaret, daughters Bobbie Anne Parks, Deborah Parks, and daughter-in-law Carol Parks, sons Gary, Wayne, and Craig Parks. Grandchildren Melanie Parks Bostian, Samantha and Sarah Parks, Wayne Parks, and Robert and Alex Levin. Great-grandchildren Hayley and Casey Bostian. Sisters Sarah Mitchell and Iona Patton of Iowa, Joyce Strauss and Janet Stephonick of Glen Lyon, PA, and Nina George of Slocum Township, PA. He also has numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.
