Bob worked for the American Red Cross for more than thirty-five years. His favorite position was financial officer for the Penn Jersey Blood Services Region. Bob was a problem solver and his help and advice were always available. He liked to travel, read a good book, and eat a good meal with a bottle of wine. Bob liked working on the inside and the outside of his two homes. He especially loved his home in the Appalachian hills of Virginia, where he chopped wood and hiked trails. Three of his best friends were Molly, Lily, and Lucy, his three dogs.

Family was important to Bob. He treasured his time with his children and grandchildren. Now there will be an empty place at the table and he will be missed by all.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family Saturday 10:00 -11:00 am at The Church of the Good Shepherd, 315 Highland Terrace, Pitman, NJ 08071. Funeral Service 11:00 am.

Bob was a great person. I worked with him at Johnstown blood services. He was a great mentor regarding financial issues. I'm sure he will be greatly missed.

Nancy, Mark and Kim, I am so very sorry to hear about Bob’s passing. Bob hired me at the Red Cross back in 2006. He was not only my boss but was also my mentor and friend. He had a wealth of knowledge and was always willing to share it. He was one of my favorite Red Crossers and will surely be missed. May he Rest in Peace. Sincerely, Sherri Middendorf

Nancy, I am so sorry for your great loss. I will miss talking with Bob as he happily and faithfully walked his best friends around the neighborhood, I will keep you and your family in my prayers.

I can still remember when Bob dressed as Robin Hood for Halloween to go with administrations theme. What a sport. I also remember that he helped me out when I ended up with two newfoundland dogs instead of one. He took the older girl and I kept the boy puppy. So many memories from work. May you meet your dog friends at the Rainbow Bridge and play with them for ever more.

I want to express my deepest sympathies to Bob's family. As a Red Crosser, I cannot emphasize the impact Bob had on so many of his colleagues. He was kind, honest, compassionate, dedicated, positive, and just a wonderful human being. He was the person you wanted chat with and hurried to sit next to in meetings and at dinners. He often bragged of his wife Nancy and his children's accomplishments, and the excitement he had as each of his grandchildren arrived. As someone he mentored for many years, I am forever grateful I had that opportunity to work for and with him, and to have known him. I was very sorry to hear that Bob is gone. During my 18 years at the Red Cross, in tough times and change, Bob was always someone to be counted on, unfailingly capable, steady, and always polite. I am still in awe of his perfectly clear desk. My condolences to his family and close friends.
