Richard V. Gardiner
On November 28, 2020 of Washington Twp. Age 85. Beloved husband of Agnes (nee Hudson). Loving father of Richard Gardiner (Denise), Robert Gardiner (Amy), Agnes Monaco (Marc), Kathryn Gardiner (Andy), John Gardiner (Marlaina), and Thomas Gardiner. Loving grandfather of Amy, Mya, Dennis, Christian, Wyatt, Danielle, Marc Jr., Anthony, Nicholas, Zach, Colin, Matthew, Ryan, Gianna, and Ava. Proud great grandfather of Carter Jo and Brody. Dear brother of the late William, Katherine, and Barbara. Loved by many nieces and nephews.
Devoted husband, father, Grandfather, and Great-Grandfather with a deep love for his family, friends, God and his country.
He enrolled in apprenticeship school in 1957, graduated to Journeyman Boilermaker at the Philadelphia Shipyard and then moved to design with NAVSEC. He traveled the world servicing Navy ships and was known as “Doctor Superheat” within the fleet. He retired from Government Service at NAVSSES in 1990.
He moved his family to Washington Township in 1964. All of his children graduated from Washington Township High School. Several of his grandchildren graduated or are still attending Washington Township schools. He was active in the local GOP, was head of the Washington Township Republican Executive Committee for 2 years and was an avid Trump supporter.
He loved golfing, playing softball with the Crackers, but mostly he loved fishing with his boys on the Jon Tom. He not only enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren participate in sports at school, but he cherished watching them grow up with family.
He will be deeply missed.
Family and friends are invited to attend his viewing Friday 8:15-10:15 AM at The Egizi Funeral Home, 119 Ganttown Road, Washington Twp. Mass of Christian Burial 11 AM at The Church of the Holy Family, Washington Twp. Interment at Gloucester County Veteran’s Cemetery, Williamstown.
