It is a very sad day for anyone that was fortunate enough to know Rick. His passing means that we have lost an awesome man who wore numerous hats in his life & wore every hat with integrity & dignity. The most important hat that he wore was that of being a true family man. As a fellow police officer that worked many shifts with Rick, I know how much he loved his girls & was so proud of them. Then with the addition of his beautiful grandkids he later told me he felt double blessed. He came from a law enforcement family with his dad & brother both serving. Rick & I were both avid Basketball guys playing in High School & when he joined CHPD he played several years on our police team. He was very talented & passed that gene on to his daughters. Rick was always there to lend a hand to those that needed him. Rick had many great attributes, but his loyalty was unprecedented. He was loyal to his family, to his friends & to the Cherry Hill Police Department. He was a man of many talents. He was a Patrol Officer, K-9 Officer, Detective, Sergeant, Lieutenant & retired as Captain. He was a kind, hardworking & compassionate Police Officer & a good friend who was always there for you. He will be sadly missed! To: Barbara, Jen, Lauren & the McBrearty Family, my sincere condolences. God Bless you. Ret. Capt. Bob Schuenemann CHPD

I knew Rick in high school at Bishop Eustace. He was always a pleasure to be around, and I have fond memories of playing basketball with him back then. Years later, I ran into him and we had a great conversation about his career in law enforcement. He was a truly good man. Rest in peace, Rick.

So sad to hear of Rick's passing. What a great guy! I never saw him at work or outside of work when he wasn't smiling or laughing. Of course , I love what he did with the K-9 Unit, also. He was a very special person and we will all miss him terribly! Much Love to Barb and family! Kate
