Richard J. Henning, Sr.

On July 21, 2023, of Washington Twp. Age 89. Beloved husband of Helen (nee Watson). Devoted father of Richard Henning, Jr. (Amy) and Christopher Henning (Michelle). Loving grandfather of Maria, Sabrina, Carly, and Lily. Proud great-grandfather of Jason, Ronan, Scarlett, and Aspen.

Richard was an avid baseball fan and self proclaimed “home run king of 69^th street”. His younger years were spent coaching his sons in baseball and travelling all across the country for business.

He adored his wife, Helen, and together the two collected many bowling and jitterbug trophies. Richard loved his family and was their personal videographer, capturing all of their precious moments, but mostly his feet.

He enjoyed spending his days at the Senior Center, Joni James, and raising his grandchildren. Richard will be remembered as someone who never stopped bragging about his family, for they brought him the most joy in life.

Richard’s life will be honored and remembered privately by his family.

Mr Henning has been part of my life since I was born. Our families moved here to Washington Twp together in the 70s. I don’t remember a time where he wasn’t bringing me dollhouse furniture or making beautiful wooden pieces. He was so smart and talented. He was always making me laugh and just always there when anyone needed him. His zingers were classic and you always wanted to sit near him so you could hear his hysterical comments. He was a spitfire til the end. I was miss him deeply and always.

We worked closely with Mr. Henning for some time, he will be remembered for his passion and making us all laugh. We greatly appreciate everything he did for the Senior Center and will miss him very much. Our deepest condolences to his friends and family.
