Richard E. Valocik
On January 26, 2026, of Mullica Hill, formerly of Southampton. Age 82. Beloved husband of Laura (nee Pavlich). Devoted father of Lora Myers (Brian) and Andrea Startare (Brian). Loving pop pop of Jamie, Jacob, Chase and Braydon. Dear brother of Frank and Tom Valocik.
Dick was born and raised in St. Clairsville, OH, and resided in Southampton, NJ, for over forty years. He eventually retired in Mullica Hill, NJ.to be closer to his girls.
He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy. Following his service, he worked full-time for Smith Kline while attending Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia in the evenings, to study biology. Upon graduation, he enjoyed a successful forty-one-year career as a scientist with the company.
Dick loved spending time with his wife and family and was a loving father to his two daughters. He and his bride had been married for 58 years. He especially loved turning long road trips to visit family in Ohio into educational experiences. Among his favorite pastimes, he enjoyed “warshing” his cars and being outside, especially sitting on his porch. He liked playing golf and softball and was a big Phillies and Eagles fan. He also had the hobby of bird watching, where he’d watch the multiple feeders he placed outside each and every window in which he gazed.
He loved being Pop Pop to his four grandchildren. They will miss him dearly.
Dick was also a generous individual who donated much of his time to service organizations. He was a Mason, a Shriner, and a Junior Mechanic, and was deeply involved in his church. He was a true gentleman and a fine example of a life well lived.
Family and friends are invited to attend his visitation Thursday February 5th 9:30-11:00 AM at Vincentown United Methodist Church, 97 Main Street, Southampton, NJ 08088. There will be a Masonic service at 11:00 AM followed by his funeral service at 11:30 AM.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Richard’s memory may be made to Veterans Helping Veterans P.O Box 337 Woodbury, NJ 08096.
