Richard A. Mirenda
On October 10, 2024, of Woolwich Twp. Age 89. Beloved husband of the late Antoinette (nee Gatto). Devoted father of Susan Vail, Barbara Williams-Scull (Brad), and the late Richard Mirenda, Jr. Loving grandfather of Dana Teague (Sam), Lauren Capone (Al), Samantha Williams, Gina Williams, Tyler Scull, and Zach Scull. Proud great-grandfather of Anthony, Jeremy, and Veronica.
Richard Mirenda, more affectionately known as “Pop Pop” , was the most kind, patient, fun loving person you could ever meet. He did not have a mean bone in his body. His family was the most important thing to him. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. When he lost the love of his life and wife of 64 years, Antoinette, back in October of 2020, we were not sure how he would be able to go on. Over the last four years, he made it a point to try to enjoy life but also made it a point to keep our mom’s memory alive with constant conversations about her and sharing his fondest memories. His missed her dearly.
He loved our three Labrador Retrievers but had a special place in his heart for the youngest, Dakota. We would often find Dakota snuggled up on his lap. And yes, we are talking a 75lb Lab on his lap. He loved every minute of it. He enjoyed going to the casino especially after he hit the jackpot last year. He also enjoyed playing cards with the men in our community. His favorite pastime was watching his Phillies and Eagles. Even when there wasn’t a game, we would find him watching highlights of past games or sports talk shows. His passing has left an enormous void in all of our lives. He will be greatly missed by so many.
Family and friends are welcome to attend his visitation Friday 9:30-11:00 AM at the Egizi Funeral Home, 119 Ganttown Road, Washington Twp. Funeral service 11:00 AM. In honor of Richard’s life, in lieu of flowers or other acts of sympathy, his family would encourage any donations be made to Samaritan’s Purse.
