Raymond P. Cascarino, Jr.
Suddenly, on September 6, 2020, of Turnersville. Age 77. Beloved husband of 55 years of Bernadette A. (nee Genna). Devoted father of Dr. Raymond P. Cascarino, III and Cheryl Kusters (Michael). Loving grandfather of Paige, Jessica, Patrick, and Rachel.
Raymond was a man of faith and was among the very first group of Eucharistic ministers in the 1970s at the Church of the Holy Family. He was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force and was recognized as “Airman of the Month” many times and he earned the title of “Expert Marksman” He was employed in Food Distribution Sales until his retirement in 2006. He loved fishing, gardening, sports and was a lover of animals. He was the “Tinkerer” extraordinaire. Most importantly he was a loving husband, father, grandfather (“Poppy”) and friend.
Family and friends are invited to attend his viewing Saturday 8:30-10:00 AM at the Egizi Funeral Home, 119 Ganttown Rd., Turnersville, NJ 08012. Mass of Christian Burial 10:45 AM at the Church of The Holy Family, Sewell. Entombment will be private for family.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Raymond’s memory may be made to “Veterans Helping Veterans”, Veterans Advisory Council, P.O. Box 337, Woodbury, NJ 08096.

I am sorry I was unable to attend the viewing on Saturday, but I wanted to pass along my condolences to you and your family. I was saddened to learn of Ray's passing. It doesn't seem like that long ago when he was picking you up after a day or night of hard labor at Clover. I always enjoyed seeing him and chatting with him, and we often went back and forth at each other with playful banter. He was a wonderful man and I'm sure this loss is very painful. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

I have such fond memories growing up in the neighborhood. "Uncle" Ray, watched out for me and all of the other neigborhood kids when we were out running around. He kept an eye on things at Meadow Ave and Hurff Lane. In a time before cell phones, Uncle Ray would pass the message along, "Mickey your mom is calling you for supper", and he did the same for all of us. He was a staple at the back fence, with his dog Ted, maybe drinking a beer (I was too young to know for certain). Now that I'm older I can see that Ray kept us all safer. He was a great neighbor, and he is forever part of my childhood. There were less than 10 neighborhood kids, and if any of us needed help, we all knew that it was safe to go to the house of Aunt Bernie and Uncle Ray.
