Raymond “Ray” Alkins was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose greatest joy in life was his family. For 59 wonderful years, he shared a loving marriage with his beloved wife, Evie. Together they built a life centered on love, family, and unwavering devotion. Ray treasured the time they spent together, especially their walks side by side.
Born to Robert and Mary Alkins, Ray was one of five siblings and shared a close bond with his brothers and sisters throughout his life. He was a beloved brother to Bob, Naomi, Lorraine, and Rich, and cherished the lifelong bonds they shared. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Rich.
Ray was a proud and supportive father to his five children: Ray Alkins, Cheryl Armenia, Brett Alkins and his wife, Jill, Gregg Alkins and his wife, Sandy, and Karen Verratti and her husband, Tom. He stood behind them through every stage of life, offering encouragement, wisdom, and enduring support. Nothing brought him more happiness than his grandchildren: Sarah, Adam, Scott, Mark, Jessie, Abby, Julia, Alyssa, and Tara. He adored each of them and took immense pride in their accomplishments, never missing an opportunity to share their successes with anyone willing to listen.
Ray carried with him the values of hard work, loyalty, and family throughout his life. He also enjoyed many of life’s simple pleasures, including golf, playing cards, horse racing, and spending time in Cape May, a place he dearly loved. He was known for his quick wit, sharp sense of humor, and colorful way with words. His stories and remarks were always memorable and often left those around him laughing.
His presence leaves a void that can never be filled, but his legacy lives on through the family he cherished so dearly. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Family and friends are invited to attend his visitation on Saturday, June 20th 9:30 – 11:00 am at the Egizi Funeral Home, 119 Ganttown Road, Washington Township.
