Patricia “Patty” Salera
A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away surrounded by those who loved her most on June 21, 2025, at the age of 64. Patty met her husband, Johnny when they were just teenagers and their relationship grew as they did. High school sweethearts, they spent almost 46 years married-navigating life’s many twists and turns together. Their bond was built not just on love, but on friendship, effort, and a shared history that shaped the life and family they created. Together, they made a home that welcomed everyone, where humor and compassion flowed freely. Patty was known for her generous heart, quick wit, and the joy she brought to everyone around her. Her laugh was contagious, her love was fierce, and her commitment to helping others knew no bounds. At 30, with three young children, Patty returned to school to earn her degree in nursing. A nurse by profession and a caretaker by nature, Patty dedicated her life to supporting those who needed it most—often showing up for people in the toughest moments of their lives. She had a soft spot for the underdog and a strength that ran deep. She could be tough when she needed to be, but she was good to her core—wise, warm, and never short on humor. Patty lit up rooms with her silliness, made people feel seen, and left everyone better than she found them. What she loved most in this world was her family—especially her grandchildren. Being a grandmom was her greatest joy, and she poured her whole heart into it. She showed her love in countless ways: through laughter, care, stories, and the way she always showed up, no matter what. Patty’s spirit will live on in the many lives she touched—with compassion, with courage, and with a whole lot of love.
She is survived by her beloved husband John. Devoted mother of Brooke Porreca (Mike), Tricia Salera, and Jaclyn Salera. Loving grandmother of Ava and Michael Jr. Cherish daughter of the late John and Genevieve (nee Hughes) McDonough. Dear sister of Maryann McCullough (Michael), Jack McDonough (Beth) and the late Jean Marie Henry, and Karen Kennedy. Loved by her nieces and nephews. Cherished sister-in-law of Frank Salera (Carol), Ron Salera (Alix), and Jason Salera (Bernadette).
They will continue to honor her legacy by living with the same kindness, strength, and joy she brought to the world. A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, June 26th 10:00 AM-12:00 PM at St. Gabriel’s Parish, 2917 Dickenson St., Philadelphia, PA 19146. Mass of Christian Burial 12:15 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her memory to Samaritan Healthcare and Hospice
