Msgr. Gregory J. Parlante
On January 14, 2025, of King of Prussia. Age 68. Dear brother of Anthony Parlante and Elizabeth Baker. Beloved son of the late Anthony and Anna (nee Sontag) Parlante. Loved by nieces and nephews.
Father Gregory Parlante always felt a calling to serve. From a young age, he dreamed of becoming a priest. Raised in South Philadelphia, he was an altar server at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church and attended both the parish school and Bishop Neumann High School, where his faith continued to flourish. It was clear even then that he was destined for a life devoted to God and the church.
After high school, Father Gregory went on to study at St. Charles Borromeo Seminary, where he deepened his knowledge and commitment to his faith. He was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, marking the beginning of a long and fulfilling ministry. Throughout his life, he served the faithful with love and dedication, beginning with his first assignment at St. Stanislaus in Lansdale.
His pastoral journey culminated in his beloved role as pastor of St. Cornelius in Chadds Ford, a position where he was deeply appreciated by his parishioners.
Father Gregory also served the Archdiocese as Vocations Director, helping guide many young men discerning their own call to the priesthood.
It was evident from countless conversations with his family and friends that Father Gregory’s deep affection for his family and parish community was only surpassed by his loved of God and the Church. He always had a special place in his heart for those he served, and his commitment to the spiritual growth of his parishioners was unwavering.
A man of many interests, Father Gregory’s love for music was especially prominent. He considered it an essential part of worship, and he devoted much time and care to ensuring that music played a central role in the liturgies he prepared. His passion for music was matched by his love of travel. He had the privilege of visiting Italy, particularly Rome, as well as the Holy Land and England, journeys that further enriched his faith and broadened his understanding of the world.
Father Gregory’s life was a testament to his unwavering devotion to God, his family, and his parishioners. His legacy of faith, service, and love will forever be remembered by those whose lives he touched.
Family and friends are invited to attend his visitation Saturday, February 8, 2025, 10:00 – 11:00 AM at St. Charles Borromeo Roman Catholic Church, 176 Stagecoach Road, Washington Twp. Mass of Christian Burial 11:00 am. Interment private.
