Morris A. Baccare passed away peacefully on October 28, 2024, at Inspira Medical Center in Mullica Hill, NJ. He was 88 years old.
Morris was born in 1935 in Philadelphia to Nicholas and Antoinette (nee Serrabocca). He moved his family to an apartment in Blackwood in 1968 and settled in Barrington in 1969 with his wife and son, where he lived for over 30 years. He spent his golden years in a retirement community in Sewell.
Growing up in South Philadelphia, more than anything he enjoyed playing baseball and stick ball with his neighborhood friends and hanging with his buddies at local social clubs.
He was drafted into military service in 1954 and served two years in the Army, from which he was honorably discharged. After his service, he helped buy a home for his family in Bellmawr using the GI Bill, a home that his mother and other family members lived in until his mother passed away.
Over his work career, he held several jobs, always working at least two jobs at a time. Those jobs included stockman/receiver for an electronics company, mail room supervisor for an information technology company and maître d’ for a catering service.
Morris loved the big band sounds of Frank Sinatra, Johnny Mathis, Perry Como and Andy Williams. His hobbies included watching his beloved Philadelphia sports teams on television, playing cards, horse racing and spending time with his grandchildren.
Morris is lovingly survived by his wife Harriet (Rosensweig) of Sewell; his son Jeffrey Baccare (Michele) of Ventnor City, his grandchildren, Grace Baccare and Jack Baccare; his siblings Louise (Jack Rutter), Dolores (Len Capone) and Nicholas (Terri Iannuzzi); as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Visitation on Wednesday, November 13th, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the EGIZI FUNERAL HOME, 119 Ganttown Road, Turnersville, NJ, where his Memorial Service will begin at 11 a.m. Family prefers in lieu of flowers, donations in Morris’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
