You were always there to pick us up, to brighten our days, to help us out and to make our lives better. In every mental image I have of Mike I see him smiling, that classic Mike West smile. To the West family,
Michael was a good co-worker that always displayed a sincere, kind and gentleman style towards any of his objectives at our workplace. His patent smile was always used as a period behind any suggestion or advise when helping a fellow worker.
Michael, will be missed by many of us at work but the deepest sorrow always reside with the family who knew him best. Words sometimes are never enough to fill the void within a family when a love one has travel to a place of rest.
However, I encourage those of us who in one way or another were able to share Michael’s humility to be vigilante towards the idea to carry out a fraction of our life in the manner that would show his passing has somehow or another inspired us to be better people.
May his display of generosity be not in vain but continue to flow in the way we treat one another.

I've often said you never know the mettle of a man. until you work a few late shifts with him. I guess over a few years I learned to realize Mike's mettle and I'm sure he knew mine. I missed those 4 AM "confessions" Michael and I shared about work, life and family when he went to daywork, now I miss them even more. Here is man who greeted me not just by "how you doing," but with a genuine, heart felt "how's the family." As I've said we've talked about family, and I know of the pride and love he had for Alice and "the boys," as he referred to Jordan and Josh. My heart goes out to all of you.

In my travels, I have met very few men who match Mikeâ??s integrity and character. He would never ask anyone to do anything he was not already willing to do. He was quick in his wit and always willing to offer a laugh, a joke, or a smile. He had the ability to make people feel comfortable just to be around him. Even as a leader, he could make fun of his own mistakes and make people laugh about their own weaknesses. His outlook on life was insightful. I still carry with me, and repeat to others, some of the same adages Mike said that he received from his grandmother: â??Think long think wrongâ?, and â??Nothing beats a failure but a try.â? The most important thing I carry is my knowledge that wherever or how far I go and whatever I do, we will always be friends. We will miss him. I will miss him.

First and foremost I want to extend my deepest heartfelt sympathy from me and my family to the Mike West family. There are no words available that express the sorrow and sadness I feel or felt upon learning of Mikes sickness and death. I liked and cared about Mike a lot and his loss is no different to me than losing a close member of my own family. Mike and I had a relationship that goes back over 32 years. We both started at the ARCO Refinery in June 1980. Our first meeting was our first day at work when they called M. West and we both stood up, we looked at each other and cracked up, it was so funny. After a few years of me being a rebel Mike thought it was safer to put " I'm not Mitch" on the back of his helmet. I worked for Mike as his Head Operator for 4 years and even then he lead by example. He was a great Superintendent and a good friend, a good guy to all and a true example of a honest, intelligent, thoughtful, respectful man to be. Family, be proud of Mike because he touched the heart of many. At the refinery he was loved by everyone he came in contact with including me. Our hearts hurt from his loss. We are truly missing him. Please call on us if there is anything we can do to get you through what we know is a tough time.

Michael was a good co-worker that always displayed a sincere, kind and gentleman style towards any of his objectives at our workplace. His patent smile was always used as a period behind any suggestion or advise when helping a fellow worker.
Michael, will be missed by many of us at work but the deepest sorrow always reside with the family who knew him best. Words sometimes are never enough to fill the void within a family when a love one has travel to a place of rest.

I've often said you never know the mettle of a man. until you work a few late shifts with him. I guess over a few years I learned to realize Mike's mettle and I'm sure he knew mine. I missed those 4 AM "confessions" Michael and I shared about work, life and family when he went to daywork, now I miss them even more. Here is man who greeted me not just by "how you doing," but with a genuine, heart felt "how's the family." In my travels, I have met very few men who match Mikeâ??s integrity and character. He would never ask anyone to do anything he was not already willing to do. First and foremost I want to extend my deepest heartfelt sympathy from me and my family to the Mike West family. There are no words available that express the sorrow and sadness I feel or felt upon learning of Mikes sickness and death. I liked and cared about Mike a lot and his loss is no different to me than losing a close member of my own family. Mike and I had a relationship that goes back over 32 years. We both started at the ARCO Refinery in June 1980. Our first meeting was our first day at work when they called M. West and we both stood up, we looked at each other and cracked up, it was so funny. After a few years of me being a rebel Mike thought it was safer to put " I'm not Mitch" on the back of his helmet. I worked for Mike as his Head Operator for 4 years and even then he lead by example. He was a great Superintendent and a good friend, a good guy to all and a true example of a honest, intelligent, thoughtful, respectful man to be. Family, be proud of Mike because he touched the heart of many. At the refinery he was loved by everyone he came in contact with including me. Our hearts hurt from his loss. We are truly missing him. Please call on us if there is anything we can do to get you through what we know is a tough time.
