Mary J. Casoli, (nee Leggieri), age 95 on October 8, 2022; left this world to return home to the Lord; and her deceased family members and friends. She was born in the Tacony section of Philadelphia. She later moved to South Philadelphia when she married and raised her family until finally moving to the Turnersville section of Washington Township, NJ in 1987.
She was the devoted mother of Leonard N. Casoli, Jr and his wife Dolores. The loving Grandmother of Nicholas Casoli (Maria) and Anthony Casoli (Heather). The adoring Great Grandmother of Evelyn, Alaina, Anthony Jr. “AJ” and Carolyn Casoli; also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors. Mary was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Leonard N. Casoli Sr.; her parents Charles Leggieri and Carmella (nee DiPinto) Leggieri; her dearest sister Rose Pinciotti (Michael) and their daughter, Marie Elena Pinciotti Parker.
Mary was an amazing woman. She was funny, feisty and very loving. She devoted herself to her family and was fiercely protective of them.
She was a hard worker from the time she was very young helping her parents at home so they could operate the family business. After finishing school, she continued to work at various companies from packaging makeup to inspecting nylons. During World War II, she was a legendary “Rosie the Riveter” as she worked for the Budd Co in Northeast Philadelphia welding parts to be used in the construction of US Aircraft. She married in 1948 and then devoted herself to her husband and a year later to a son. She was a meticulous homemaker, maintaining an immaculate home, cooking and baking to perfection. She was also meticulous in her appearance from the time she was young until just before her death. She could never pass a Clinique counter without stopping for “1 or 2 little things”. She was addicted to cross word puzzles and word games and loved an outing to a casino. She was fond of a Bloody Mary or a Margarita now and then. She wasn’t the stereotypical 95 year old.
Her life motto was, “always do the right thing even if others don’t” and she instilled that into the entire family. She was indeed one of a kind. Her doctors referred to her as Magic Mary because she came through several serious health battles people half her age couldn’t survive. She was MOM MOM to many and will be sorely missed by all who knew her.
Family and friends are invited to attend her viewing, Thursday October 13th from 8:30 – 10:30 am at the Egizi Funeral Home, 119 Ganttown Road, Washington Twp. Mass of Christian Burial 11:00 am at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 362 Ganttown Road, Washington Twp. Interment will follow at New St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bellmawr, NJ.
The Family wishes to thank the people at Bayada Home Care and Bayada Hospice at lnspira for the care, compassion, and tenderness they brought to Mary’s home each day. They indeed brightened Mary’s final days. May God bless them!
