Mary E. Twomey, on December 5, 2023, of Williamstown, NJ Age 69. Big sister of James (Joanne), Patricia McCann (Patrick), Helen, and Vincent (Kelli). Loving Aunt of John (Sarah), Julie (Jason), Jennafer, Rachel (Nic), Martin, Brenna, Meridith, Vincent, Aidan and the late James, Daniel, and Andrew and great-aunt of Brooklyn, Frida, and Leo.
Mary was an accomplished musician who first started playing the guitar in 5th grade and later went on to study classical guitar in college, practicing her art to perfection countless hours per day. Before moving back to her home state of New Jersey in her later years, Mary spent a good part of her life living in Northern California and attended Chico State University where she later went on to become a member of the music department faculty and also offered private lessons in guitar. She enjoyed hiking in the mountains and swimming and biking along the California coastline. Mary was the lead guitar player for several all-girl rock bands, typically handling all of the difficult guitar solos playing cover songs from bands such as Led Zeppelin, Cream, and The Ramones and she idolized Joni Mitchell from a young age. When she became proficient on the violin later in her life (teaching herself), she was a key member of an Irish folk band that toured several cities. She also performed with the San Francisco symphony.
Mary will be remembered by her siblings as a determined and independent woman who would always be quick to remind us all that she was in charge of the family. We will miss her dearly as will all of her other family members and friends.
A private memorial service and burial will be held for close family members only. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary’s memory can be made to the Share Food Program.
Condolences may be shared with the family at www.egizifuneral.com.
