Mary Costa, on March 28, 2021 of Washington Twp. Age 61. Beloved daughter of the late Dominic and Rachel (nee D’Antonio) Costa. Loving sister of Anna Mae Colongo (the late Eugene), Elizabeth Carfagno (the late Pat), Marlene DeMarco (the late John), Donna Costa (Marie Schmucker) and the late Linda Ricciardi (the late Anthony). She is also going to be missed by many loving nieces and nephews and their families.
Mary was born November 3rd, 1959, in Philadelphia, PA to Dominic and Rachel, the youngest of 6 girls. At that time, Dom was told she would not make it long and to leave her at the hospital. Not having it, he went and took her literally from the hospital and 61 years later Mary went back to him and Rachel after a full active life.
She went to elementary school in South Philadelphia, moved to Washington Township in 1968, went to St. John of God in Westville and then to Elsmere in Glassboro, NJ where she continued her education in life skills and graduated with “honors” on June 13, 1980. She walked in graduation and received a high school diploma from Washington Township High School as well while attending Elsmere. She was involved in Special Olympics as a Bowler and achieved Silver Medal Status as an Olympic Athlete in 1979. Her passion and expertise in athletics was indicative of the disciplined adult she would become later in life.
The last 4 decades she lived with her sisters both in Philadelphia and New Jersey.
Her favorite vacation spots were Walt Disney World in Florida and Wildwood, NJ. She made both trips on a yearly basis. Her most memorable trip, being to Disney for her 50th Birthday, when her amazing, large family of 50 plus relatives went to celebrate with her.
Mary lived a joyous, happy, healthy life and was “Queen” to all she encountered. The sweetest, kindest soul, she will be remembered and missed with love and respect whenever anyone mentions her name.
Rest sweet Mary, passing you off to all who loved you and have gone before you. You are in great hands.
Family and friends are invited to attend her viewing Friday 8:30-11:00 am at the Egizi Funeral Home, 119 Ganttown Rd., Washington Twp. Due to the restrictions of Covid-19, Mary’s funeral service will be private. Family and friends are invited to her graveside committal service at 12:00 pm at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Washington Twp.
