Mary B. Boyle
(nee Sheridan) On December 24, 2021 of Washington Twp. Age 90. Beloved wife of the late Joseph A.
Mary Barbara Boyle, known to all who loved her as Barb, was the revered and beloved matriarch of a close-knit and loving family. Born in Philadelphia in 1931, she graduated from West Catholic High School. She was married to Joseph A. Boyle in 1949, and shortly began her life as a Navy wife. For nearly 70 years of marriage, until his death in 2019, Joseph called her “my bride,” and gave her credit for skillfully and thoughtfully raising their six children during the many years in which he was at sea for months at a time.
Though Navy life has hardships and raising six kids, mostly alone, can be challenging, Barb always maintained a positive outlook and impressed that value on her children. She and Joe were always guided by their faith and deep love for the Catholic Church and its teachings. All six children, to this day, love God and country and family.
Life with hardship is not life without joy. Barb saved quarters to provide fun times for her family. They grew up understanding that you don’t need money to be happy. And they learned, from both parents, that so many things were more important than money.
Barb leaves behind her six children and their spouses: Joseph Boyle (Cathy), Michael Boyle (Greg Murphy), Patricia Boyle Banks (Bob), Susan Boyle Griffis (John), Barbara Boyle Siravo (Al) and Timothy Boyle (Patty). She is survived by 16 grandchildren and was predeceased by her smart, beautiful, loving granddaughter, Kimberly Alis Boyle.Barb had six great-grandchildren and leaves behind a brother, Francis Sheridan. She was predeceased by two brothers and a sister: Leo Sheridan, Bernard Sheridan and Ann Sheridan Bradley.
Barb’s family can tell you that she gave the best, heartfelt hugs and ended them, always, with the words “God bless.”
God Bless, Barb. You will be missed.
