Margaret M. Timmons
(nee Weinman) On November 24, 2017 of Washington Twp., passed peacefully with her family by her side. Age 73. Wife of the late Michael. Devoted mother of John E., Jennifer Simcox (Shayne), and Michael J. Timmons (Sandra). Loving grandmother of Shannon, Matthew, and Luke. Dear sister of Joseph, and the late Francis Weinman.
Margie (Mom) was born and raised in Philadelphia, graduating from Cardinal Dougherty in 1962. She loved to tell stories about her life growing up in the city and had especially entertaining recounts of her experiences with catholic school nuns. After high school mom worked as a switchboard operator at “Ma Bell” until marrying and starting a family. Summer vacations would find her on a beach, be it in Ocean City, Cape May or Virginia, mom loved the beach and would pack up the kids for full sun filled days and boardwalk filled nights. She passed the love of oceanside fun onto her grandchildren and spent many days teaching them the finer points of making drip castles and digging for sand crabs.
As her children got older and entered middle and high school, Margie returned to the work force first as a clerk in the Washington Twp. construction office and later, with the support and encouragement of her co-workers, attended night classes and became a licensed building inspector. She worked in the community as a building inspector for 17 years before retiring. Margie was also an appointed member of the advisory board at Shady Lane Nursing Home where she served for 10 years.
Mom loved the thrill of a good bargain and spent many weekends searching for treasures at flea markets, yard sales and outdoor markets like CowTown. She appreciated good perfumes and made it a quest to find her favorites at below department store prices. While her favorites might change she rarely if ever went a day without wearing a memorable scent.
Our Mom was beautiful, kind and generous to a fault. Whether it was catering a baby shower, helping plan a wedding, baking a cake or babysitting her grandkids she never stopped giving. Her friends and family knew no matter what the situation, she was there to help. Every life she touched was made better by knowing her and she will be greatly missed by many.
Relatives and Friends are invited to attend her visitation Wednesday 7:00-9:00 PM and Thursday 10:00-11:00 AM at the Egizi Funeral Home, 119 Ganttown Rd., Washington Twp. Mass of Christian Burial, 12:00 PM at Our Lady of Peace Parish/ St. Mary’s RC Church, Williamstown. Interment, Gloucester County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Williamstown. In lieu of flowers, donations in Margaret’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1851 Old Cuthbert Rd., Cherry Hill, NJ 08034.
