Malcolm L. Friedman, on July 17, 2017, of Blackwood. Age 75. Devoted father of Aaron, Alicia and step-father of Abigail. Beloved brother of Elaine. Dear uncle of Todd and Jason.
Mal was particularly known for his sense of humor, and his very outgoing personality. He loved to crack jokes and make small talk with anyone who crossed his path. Mal had a big heart, was very generous and willing to help out a friend in need.
Mal was a true American patriot. He served in the United States Navy, and loved his country. Those that knew him best, would get blasted with several emails from him each and every day. These emails would range from poking fun at liberals, to expressing his heartfelt interests, to making people laugh.
Throughout his life, Mal had a passion and was a big part of the Boy Scouts, Rotary, Masons, American Legion, and the Moose Lodge. He loved camping, spending time with family and friends, rooting for his favorite team—the Philadelphia Eagles, and spending vacation time on a cruise ship or down the Jersey Shore. He will be sorely missed by his friends and family.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his committal service Friday, August 11th, 12:30 PM at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 350 Provinceline Road, Wrightstown.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Malcolm’s memory may be made to Semper Fido, Inc. by visiting http://semperfido.org/home/donate/ Semper Fido, Inc. is a non-profit organization committed to the rehabilitation of service members and veterans that have been injured while defending our country and have been diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and/or traumatic brain injuries (TBI). It has been proven that using dogs for mental as well as physical rehabilitation can greatly benefit these warriors’ recovery.
We are committed to helping in the rehabilitation of these brave warriors while saving unwanted animals from shelters and rescues. Our service dogs will be obtained from a number of sources including, but not limited to, rescue groups and shelters. Our organization benefits both parties involved; those who sacrificed themselves for our freedoms, and the dogs that may have had no hope of a forever home.
Each service dog is trained over the course of a 6-9 month program. During these 6-9 months, the service members bonds with the dogs by feeding, walking, playing with and grooming them. The service member is taught to use the commands the dog has learned from the professional dog trainers. Upon completion of the program, the dog graduates and receives a diploma for advanced off leash training. The dog then goes home with the service member.
