Monica, Alisha, Alexa, No words are adequate to express oneâ??s condolences in your time of sorrow other than to say how truly sorry we are for your loss. Lou was a loving devoted husband and father. It was an honor to work with Lou at L-3 but more of an honor to have known Lou as a person. He set the example for being a wonderful human being. Since we were both from South Philly, I always enjoyed talking with Lou about growing up in Philly. I will miss Lou dearly but I am thankful to God that I got the chance to know him. James Higgins left a message on September 29, 2009:
To Lou's family, Lou was one of the nicest people I've ever known. Since our offices are about 5 feet apart, we had the opportunity to talk sports, especially about our love and frustration for the Phillies. Although this is a very sad time for all of us, I am thankful that I got to know him. We will keep him in our prayers. Jim Higgins
Bill Staber left a message on September 29, 2009:
Dear Monica, Alisha and Alexa, As the prior Program Manager of the LMD/KP, I had the pleasure and good fortune of knowing Lou in his short time with us here at L-3. From my first encounter with Lou, I knew in my heart that he was a good and kind man. He was the personification of a true gentleman, carrying all the virtues that could ever grace a human being with that title. He was a fantastic listener and always responded with sincerity and respect. Lou was engaging, whether discussing the weather, an important work issue or, believe it or not, even when talking about the Phillies! Being a Boston man, he was always eager to compare stories;.my Boston experiences with his Philadelphia life. I always enjoyed leading the LMD/KP program and felt a huge sense of responsibility for my people. Lou carried that same torch and treated our team with great respect. I miss him and I can tell you that his entire team misses his smile and gentle ways. Many tears are falling and many prayers are being sent his way. Lou has touched many lives here. He has created many friends and he will be honored by our efforts to emulate his kindness and thoughtfulness and by following the wonderful example that he has set. With deepest sorrow and respect, Bill Staber

What I will cherish always about Louie is the way his tender heart touched the lives of everyone he met. I will never forget Louie's bright smile, warm hugs and how He always made everyone so happy during family gatherings. Louie lived life wonderfully as a Loving Husband, Devoted Father, freind and neighbor. Everyone would agree, that Louie was a perfect model of how to follow Christ in the Catholic Faith and inspired others during His journey. Louie accomplished so many amazing things during His short life here on Earth, I can only imagine the beautiful contributions Louie will be Offering up in Heavan. As we Celebrate Louie's Blessed Life today, let us be thankful to have shared life, laughter and love with Him. Louie will live forever in our Hearts until we meet again someday in Heavan.

Monica and daughters, it is with great sorrow I learned late today of Lou's passing. I retired in Feb '08 and Lou was the last Program Mgr. I got to work with before leaving L-3. In the 40+ years I worked as a Financial Analyst and Cost Accountant with 5 companies, Lou was the most mannerly, true gentleman I ever worked with. He treated all who worked for him with great respect. Words cannot describe the feeling of his sudden loss. My wife and I who met you, will pray and think of you and your family often.

Bernie Schultz left a message on September 29, 2009:
Dear Monica, Alisha and Alexa, Lou was truly one of the nicest and most caring gentlemen I've ever had the pleasure of knowing. He always had a positive outlook on life and his eternal optimism was an inspiration to me. I loved talking with Lou about our kids Basketball games, the Jersey shore, the number of years left until retirement and even work issues which seemed less problematic when speaking with Lou. But the thing that he loved to talk about the most was "His girls". Lous face just lit up with pride and excitement anytime he spoke about Monica and his daughters. We were all very blessed to have had this man in our life and we will cherish his memory forever. Bernie and Karen Schultz

Allen Gordon left a message on October 13, 2009:
I wish to express my sincere sympathy to the family and friends of my good friend and Manager at CSC from 1998-2002, Lou Valletta. Lou maintained an upbeat, open and respectful relationship with the many members of the Joint Technical Manuals Software Development Group, who repaid him with their tireless support. Through his rare forthright management skills at promoting Team spirit among his staff, the JCALS project was recognized for the fulfillment of its challenging prime operational goal of automating the intricate phases of Technical Manual development, maintenance and electronic distribution to U.S. Warfighters' needs around the world. I sadly join the praises of his many associates in the expression of deep sorrow at the passing of our very gifted friend.
Karen Donnelly left a message on October 7, 2009:
I worked with Lou on two programs at CSC: JCALS and GDSS-2. Lou was always happy, smiling and in a good mood. He was a great listener and motivator. His positive attitude was infectious. Lou was the only Christ-like person that I have ever known. He truly lived his faith seven days a week and was a role model for other Christians. I have to agree with another person who wrote that we are all better for having known Lou. On September 29th I dreamed that at Lou’s viewing, there would be a line out the door because of the number of people he knew. In fact that was the case. A true testament to the man he was, the number of lives he touched and the many people who loved and revered him so very much. Lou you will never be forgotten. We love you and thank you for the time we had with you on this earth and for helping us all to become better people through knowing you. Until we meet again….. May God Bless Monica, Alisha and Alexa and keep them forever in His care.

Sharon and Kelvin Dyer left a message on September 30, 2009:
My husband Kelvin and I were both fortunate to have worked for Lou on the JCALS project at CSC. He was the best boss we have ever had, and we loved him dearly. Lou was more like a father and friend then our manager. We will never forget his beautiful smile and how proud he was of his Technical Manuals development team. He frequently handed out tokens off appreciation with the words "TM Pride" on them. The services were beautiful today. I particularly loved the words shared by one of Lou's daughters and his brother. Looking around at the crowds of people, I felt Lou's presence. His spirit is so strong. Lou will forever remain in our hearts. He touched every person he came in contact with. We will pray for Lou, even though that is not necessary. Today at the mass, I asked him to continue to pray for us because I know he is in heaven at this moment and has some great connections there. We are still in shock about his passing and pray that God pulls his family and friends through this very difficult time. WE LOVE YOU, LOU !!!

Dear Monica, Alisha, and Alexa, Anyone who has been blessed with the privilege of knowing Lou understands the tremendous sadness each one of us felt upon learning of his passing. I am not sure if I can think of another human being who possessed the generosity of heart and true compassion and concern for others that Lou showed in each and every moment of his life. I was fortunate to have been working for Lou at CSC when my husband passed away a few years ago, and I believe that Louâ??s presence in my life at that time was one of those blessings God granted me to bring me through a difficult time. I pray that you and your daughters will find comfort and strength in knowing that so many people share in your loss. We all witnessed Louâ??s incredible love for his family whenever he spoke of you. Monica, You may not remember me, but we've met at various CSC work functions. Lou was my first boss on the JCALS project. He was a fantastic manager. I always admired his ability to bring out the very best in his employees. With Lou at the helm, team morale was always high. I still have the TM Pride gifts he gave out each year and it's been almost 6 years since working that project even longer since he was my boss. I'll never forget his Ichiban reports. What an absolute privilege it was to work for him, but most of all, he was my friend. He took his job very serious, but he knew what the most important things were in life. As the pain of grief subsides into our "new normal" of life without Lou,I trust we will all have great memories of his life being a positive impact on the numerious lives he touched. Gone at such a young age.. but a life well lived. Keep alive the great memories. May God bless and comfort your family throught the days ahead.

We were shocked deeply saddened by the news of your unexpected loss. Our deepest sympathy goes out to such an obviously close-knit family. To Monica, Alisha, Alexa, and Kathryn who remain at home, we pray that the strength which only comes from God will be with you during this difficult time. And to his brother Angelo my co-worker and friend and to Ang’s immediate family; to his parents, Mr. & Mrs. Valetta, please know that you are all in our thoughts and prayers. In the days ahead may you take comfort in knowing that your faith will help you get through this time, and that each day will get better as you focus on the many good memories you’ve had together. A genuinely great guy and a model neighbor, Lou could always be seen smiling and waving as neighbors rode by or while he and his wife & daughter would be walking the dog. Lou and Monica would often stop to have a brief conversation with us whenever the opportunity presented itself. His early and untimely departure has left many touched and deeply impacted. His legacy of kindness, excellence in his work ethic and family commitment will live on through his family as you continue to live and enjoy life just the way he would have wanted.

Dear Monica, Alisha and Alexa, I was stunned when I heard the news about Lou this morning. I worked with him at JCALs and Aegis and he was one of the nicest and most caring people I've ever met. He is truly one person that I've never heard anyone say a bad word about. The best thing that I can say about your husband/father is that he didn't leave his Catholic faith in church, but he brought it into the workplace. He treated everyone with kindness and respect and was always a pleasure to be around. He was loved by everyone that knew him and his passing leaves a void in the lives of many. I will pray for the repose of his soul, as well as peace for all of you. God Bless, Gary Zimak CSC co-worker

Dear Monica, Alisha and Alexa, I am so sorry for your loss. He truly was a great guy that I had the pleasure to know for 9 years. I first got to know him when I joined the JCALS project at CSC in 2000. He was the best manager I ever worked for and I have had a 27 year career so that is saying a lot. In 2002, five of us at CSC, including Lou and I split a 76ers season ticket plan. For the couple of years we did this, we would get together as a group and use a lottery system to decide who would go to each games. That was always a lot of fun and I will remember Lou and I discussing the latest exploits of Allen Iverson and Pat Croce. He loved Pat Croce's books and think that was part of the reason he decided to go to the Sixers games. I will never forget Lou’s amazingly positive outlook on everything in life. I will never forget a time that four of us went to a Sixers game in 2003. He took Alexa I think, and I took a buddy of mine. After the game I leaving to go home alone. That year I was going through a tough time with my divorcewhich Lou knew about and he said “Let’s go out for ice cream” and was very insistent about it. This was a Friday night and I figured he wanted to get home to be with the rest of his family. But no he wanted to spend some time and talk with me and share some ice cream. That is the kind of guy Lou is! Unfortunately I did not get to see him as much in recent years because he went to work at L-3. But my time working with him on JCALS is something I will always remember.

Dear Monica, Alicia and Alexis, Our thoughts and prayers will always be with you as you mourn the loss of your loving husband and father. When I think of Lou, I remember his smiling face coaching Alexis and Elizabeth in the mini micro soccer league. He was so wonderful with all the kids; always smiling and supporting their every move. He was a great supporter of St. Bridget's school as well as all the functions at OLL. I loved listening to his gentle voice when he lectured at the 8. Lou always took the time to say hello and ask how you were doing. He was truly one of a kind! May God bless all of you during this difficult time in your lives. In time may your tears turn to laughter when you remember the love and all the memories you shared with Lou. Love, Betsy Roantree and family
