Linda C. DeRitis
On December 31, 2023, of Washington Twp. Age 74. Beloved daughter of the late Angelo and Anna DeRitis. Loving sister of Anita Hartig (William). Dear aunt of Kristin and Erika. Great-aunt of Jaxon and Olivia.
Linda was kind and so very generous and would give the shirt off her back to anyone. All were welcome to her, she made everyone feel loved and special. If you needed a shoulder to cry on or an ear to listen you could always count on her.
She was the best aunt in the world. She treated her nieces like they were her own from baking Christmas cookies, going trick or treating, making valentines and Easter trees, watching the Mummers down Broad St in Philly, to taking us to her work and to being by our sides for every major event and achievement to the hardest times. She was always our biggest cheerleader. With all the love she gave she was loved tenfold in return.
She would say, “Let’s go for a ride” and we would find ourselves checking out the prettiest Christmas lights, or pretending to buy a beach house at her favorite Cape May and Wildwood. No matter the season she loved the shore; Sherlock Holmes weekend, ghost tours and “oh those wildwood days” on the boardwalk, the beach digging up clam shells and staying for hours and of course crabs and macaroni. Smithville during Christmas and the summers in Collingswood were all made special by her.
She enjoyed collecting dolls, angels, snowmen, gingerbread, anything cat especially black. She painted ceramics and porcelain, crafting, shopping, going to tea, sipping coffee and most of all cats especially her little boy Binx.
Every holiday had flare and made festive from valentines to Halloween and Christmas, at any holiday you could walk in her home and be delighted by the décor. Always accompanied by music so we could dance and make it fun.
She was goofy and silly and loved to have a good time. If there was something new and cute she had it.
She was born in Philly and graduated from Collingswood High in 1968. She worked in insurance until retirement. She lived in Sewell NJ for the last 20 years.
Family and friends are invited to attend her visitation Tuesday 10:00-11:30 AM at the Egizi Funeral Home, 119 Ganttown Road, Washington Twp. Funeral service 11:30 AM. Interment, SS Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Linda’s memory may be made to Homeward Bound Pet Adoption Center
