Kathleen Brino
(nee Dunn) On April 6, 2024, of Washington Twp. Age 69. Beloved wife of Thomas. Devoted mother of Melissa Brino and Jessica Schaal (John). Loving grandmother of Jack. Dear sister of Charles Dunn (Jeanie), Maryellen Woerner (Rudolph) and Bernice Walker. Loved by many nieces and nephews, with a special place in her heart for Megan, Brianna and Kevin.
Kathleen Brino was loved by many and in turn she loved those in her life fiercely. Kathleen and her husband Tom of 47 years built a beautiful life together. Their love and dedication to each other blossomed into a beautiful family and Kathleen delighted in motherhood, raising her daughters in the proud tradition of the strong and forthright women that came before her. She reveled in years of girl scouts, dance classes, and school events; always showing up for her girls in every and any way she could. Kathleen perfected her mummers strut and loved watching the Mummers going up broad and coming down second street, the way it was meant to be. New Year’s day meant open house on Daly street with a bowl of her vegetable soup or a slice of Nanny’s Jewish apple cake that she loved to make every year. And of course she couldn’t forget the classic; hot dogs and sauerkraut.
When her husband Tom dreamed of a parking spot of his own, it was goodbye South Philly and hello, South Jersey and Washington Township, known to many as “little South Philly”. This of course meant that Kathleen had to face the dreaded driver’s license test-which she eventually passed by the grace of a generous tester-who needs to parallel park in Jersey anyway? It was in Washington township that Kathleen found new pursuits, the Ladies of the Sacred Heart group within Holy Family Parish, where she built ties of faith, friendship, and fellowship. She and Tom were also blessed to serve with Pre-Canna ministry for a few years, sharing with young couples their lessons and experience of building a faith filled marriage. Kathleen took great pride in her years working at Margaret E Heggan Library and performed her work with great attention to detail and completed tasks in the best way possible; the “Kathy way”. Kathleen was a woman with strong opinions–who was always in the right especially Trump right!
Kathleen loved to vacation at the Jersey shore, with her friends and family. Many summers were spent relaxing on the “Aloha” sun deck and watching out for the tram car on the boardwalk. It wasn’t until later in life that with the encouragement of their beloved neighbors that Kathleen and Tom discovered a shore further south; heading to sunny Florida to share many good times. Sitting on a porch with beloved friends and her husband was always a joy for Kathleen. When Kathleen decided to finally retire from the Library she was able to take on the job of her lifetime; being mom-mom to the great joy of her life-her grandson Jack. To be surrounded by friends and family, sharing laughs, opinions, playing games, these were the simple things in life that brought Kathleen the most gratification.
Family and friends are invited to attend her viewing Wednesday 6:00-8:00 PM at the Egizi Funeral Home, 119 Ganttown Road, Washington Twp. Mass of Christian Burial Thursday 10:30 AM at the Church of The Holy Family 226 Hurffville Road, Washington Twp.
In honor of Kathleen’s life, in lieu of flowers or other acts of sympathy, we would encourage any donations to St. Mary’s School, 32 Carroll Ave. Williamstown, NJ 08094.
