Karen L. Buckley-Dixon
(née Wright) of Glassboro, New Jersey, passed away suddenly on June 25, 2026. She was a deeply beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and vibrant spirit whose immense presence will be sorely missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
As the Executive Director of Cardinal Village Retirement Community in Sewell, NJ, Karen made a profound and positive impact on countless families looking for a comforting place for their older parents. Her selflessness extended far beyond her professional life; she simply always put others first. Karen was famous for her boundless generosity, dependably arriving at every barbecue, birthday party, and office gathering with an overabundance of cookies, cakes, and pies—often bringing them “just because.”
A dedicated and passionate athlete, Karen was an avid cyclist, runner, and swimmer who found great joy in competing in triathlons and marathons. She was a cornerstone of her athletic community, relied upon by training partners, coaches, and fellow cyclists to coordinate group rides and playfully keep everyone in line. When she wasn’t training, she embraced life’s beautiful moments, enjoying the outdoors, spending peaceful Sundays at the beach, and traveling. She held a special fondness for Paris and her favorite store, Louis Vuitton. Yet, of all her worldly adventures and pursuits, none exceeded the profound love she had for the dogs and Chow Chows that filled her life.
Above all, Karen cherished the people in her life. She is survived by her devoted husband, Francis; her loving children, Stephen Dixon II, Laura Dixon, Justin Cumming and his wife Jenn, and Victoria; and her treasured grandchildren, Molly, Jonah, Amanda, Austin, Kaylynn, and Greyson. She leaves behind her co-workers, extended family, and a tightly-knit core group of friends whom she lovingly referred to as “the rejects.” who attended her Christmas dinners every year. Her loss leaves a hole in this world that can never be filled.
Family and friends are warmly invited to attend her viewings on Monday, June 29th, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, and Tuesday, June 30th, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the Egizi Funeral Home, 119 Ganttown Rd., Washington Twp. A funeral service honoring her life will immediately follow on Tuesday at 11:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Karen’s memory may be made to the American Heart Association.
