John J. McMurtrie, III

On September 11, 2025, John passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family.  Of Runnemede, age 75. Beloved husband of Carol (nee Tanzini). Devoted father of Denise Giovinetti, and Teresa Bedard (Joseph). Loving grandfather of Danny Giovinetti.  Dear son of the late John and Lillian McMurtrie.  Dear brother of the late Joann Lowe.  Brother-in-law Eddie Lowe. Dear uncle of Danielle. Survived by an aunt, an uncle, many cousins, and friends.

John was a very dedicated and devoted husband, father and grandfather.  He was an avid Eagles fan who never missed a game, whether it be watching in person or on TV with his family.
In 1967, John started his career at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard as a Marine Machinist.  He continued his career inspecting ships with many river runs and traveling to different countries.
After the main shipyard closure in 1995, John’s expertise was still highly valued. He continued his employment as an Inspection & Quality Control Officer Specialist at the Inactive Ships Maintenance Facility, until he retired in 2005. After retirement, John loved having more time to spend with his family and grand dogs. He cherished every moment with them, especially with his grandson, Danny.  His relationships with his loved ones served as a special source of pride and happiness.

John will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Family and friends are invited to attend his viewing Friday 9:00 – 11:00 AM at the Egizi Funeral Home, 119 Ganttown Rd., Washington Twp. Funeral service 11:00 AM. Entombment New St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bellmawr.
