Jennie Barbara Drozd
(nee Bogacka) Age 100, of Turnersville, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 12, 2025.
Jennie was born in Camden, NJ on February 14, 1925, in the vibrant Polish enclave of Whitman Park. She was a good student at Camden High School and hoped to become a bookkeeper. However, World War II intervened and she had to leave school in 1942 after her Junior Year to help support her family. She worked at the American Cigar Company in South Camden learning all the assembly line jobs and rising to become an inspector. She also met the love of her life, Edward, an automobile repair graduate of Camden County Vocational and Technical School and they married in 1948. They started a beautiful family in Camden and had David, Diane and Carol, spending many happy years in their house on Jackson Street. Edward passed unexpectedly in 1975, and Jennie started a new life in a new home in the Robindale Manor section of Turnersville in 1982. She remained there until her passing. Always a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she took pride in her cooking and keeping a spotless house. She was also devoted to God, her local parish church and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Beloved wife to the late Edward J. Drozd; devoted mother of David Drozd (Betty), Diane Drapala (Chet) and Carol Barron (Edward); loving grandmother of Joanna Drozd (John Akin), Sarah Drozd (Michael Wacker), Monica Kittel (Joseph) and Michael Barron (Dannielle) and great grandmother of Eli and Avery. Jennie is preceded in death by her great granddaughter Esther Kittel; parents Jan and Maryanna (Kawczynska) Bogacki; sister Mary Barnett; and brothers Stanley, Frank, John, Walter, Theodore and Joseph. Loving aunt to numerous nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing on Saturday 10:30 – 11:30 am at Saints Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church, 362 Ganttown Road, Turnersville, NJ 08012. Funeral Mass 11:45 am Interment St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Chews Landing.
In honor of Jennie’s life, in lieu of flowers or other acts of sympathy, her family would encourage any donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
