Jean Rose Kitzinger was born and raised in South Philadelphia. Her parents, Dino & Cass Oldrati lived near 24th and Wharton Sts. and were members of the King of Peace Parish. She attended St. Maria Goretti High School graduating in 1958. She married her high school sweetheart in 1961 and raised their two sons. She taught them respect, good manners, and the importance of education. She was most proud that both her sons attended St. Joe’s Prep H.S. and Villanova University. Her family was the most important part of her life and always made sure her home was well decorated for holidays and special occasions. She loved family vacations, listening to Frank Sinatra on Sundays, and pizza. In 1972 she went to work at Philadelphia Traffic Court and became the Executive Secretary for the President Judge. She retired after 25 years and helped care for each of her three grandchildren before they attended pre-school. From 1986 through 2019 she was a resident of Packer Park and was beloved by her neighbors. She was an active part of her community up until her illness in 2016 when she was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease.
Jean’s life will be honored and remembered privately by her family due to the health crisis of COVID-19.
