Janice Horan, originally of Washington Twp., passed away on June 1, 2023, at the age of 58 following a brief battle with renal and pancreatic cancers. Janice was surrounded by her aunt, Barbara O’Malley, and her ‘dynamic duo’ – her cousin Patricia O’Malley and her best friend Rita Geddes. Beloved daughter of the late Robert and Eileen (nee Quinn) Horan, Janice is survived by her beloved puppy J-bird, two aunts, numerous loving cousins, and an extended family of friends.

Janice graduated from Washington Twp. HS Class of ‘82, University of Delaware (1986), and the Darden Business School at the University of Virginia. Janice traveled all over the world in her 28-year career at FICO, most recently as a FICO Advisors Vice President. During her FICO years Janice built a network of international colleagues who became family, many of whom visited her either in person or via video chat in her final days.

Janice served as the ‘family historian’ for all branches of her family tree. She expressed her joy and gratitude that she was able to visit with so many of her relatives in her final days, including the O’Malley’s, Quinn’s, Ehly’s, Hofer’s and Hanna’s as well as her ‘adopted family’, the Reisig/Geddes clan. Unless traveling abroad, Janice never missed a family or friend function, attending countless weddings, showers, birthday celebrations, etc. Janice also had an extensive social media family, including her favorite author, Catherine Coulter and her followers, many of whom contacted her in final days.

In the numerous messages that she received while on hospice, there was a recurring theme of Janice’s generosity and kindness. She was the first person to offer support and encouragement in a time of need. Janice was notorious for her abundant gift giving, with care and thought into every gift decision. Janice mentored and supported women in business. She loved music and could often be found watching MTV (even today) or attending a concert, often taking family or friends along. Although Janice traveled extensively for work, she also enjoyed traveling for leisure, typically taking along family and friends to cities throughout the world. In all of her travels, Ireland was her favorite destination as it felt like home.

Family and friends are invited to attend her viewing Wednesday 10:30-12:00 PM at SS Peter & Paul Roman Catholic Church, 362 Ganttown Road, Washington Twp., NJ 08012. Her Funeral Mass will follow at 12:15 PM, and can be streamed via the church’s website at www.churchofstspeterandpaul.org. Interment to be held privately at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Janice’s memory may be made to your local ASPCA or dog shelter, or the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCAN) at pancan.org.

Just saw this after trying to reach out to Janice several times. Her Dad was a close friend of my late husband, Myles Wilson, since their days at Gimbel's. She became a friend to all of us since those guys reconnected. All of them, including my daughter Jill Neilson, were credit card people. Jill still works in the banking industry at Barclay's and benefited from both Janice and her Dad's advice and guidance. I will deeply miss the lively intellectual conversations and her Irish whit passed along to her from her parents. Great memories from Avalon as well. One memory in particular stands out; the party she threw herself at the Camden aquarium instead of having a wedding. We are making a donation in her memory to the Morris Animal Shelter in Philadelphia and the Pima, AZ, no kill shelter as well. The Horan Border Collies gave us wonderful memories. Rest in Peace. We still grieve the loss of a beautiful, kind, patient, wise, super smart and very funny woman. I adored Janice, and she brought a special light to our family. Her quick wit and worldly ways uplifted us. She was a generous and fun-loving human, and we miss her. I'm so sorry to hear of Janice's passing. My family lived in Janice's Florida house for 12 years. From day one, Janice's generosity was abounding. It was in that house that we raised three kids, all of whom Janice knew by name and would always ask about. It was in that house that we dodged numerous hurricanes. Janice would be the first to warn and the first to check in on us after, to ensure we were okay, not the house. It was in that house that I spent hours talking, laughing, and "reminiscing" with Janice, a woman whom I had never met, but felt like I had known since childhood. It was in that house that I learned of the passing of her parents, her grandmother, her beloved dogs. It was in that home that Janice shared the news of her early health symptoms several years ago. It was there that I got to know her college friends, cousins, nieces and nephews, and learned of all the celebrations that Janice shared with all of you. Janice was the epitome of kindness, always putting my family above her concerns or issues. She made me laugh and was kind to the point of tears. I am truly sorry to hear of her passing and send my deepest sympathies to all her family and friends. I will be forever grateful that I had the honor of knowing Janice and know the heavens shine a little brighter with her there.

When I heard about Janice I was just immediately reminded of her great smile and her kindness to people. Janice made everyone feel at ease . She was unique , gifted , and respected. Her life set an example for all of us. Janice thank you for all you did in your lifetime. I personally appreciated the support and encouragement you gave me. May you fly amongst the angels.

I was shocked to learn of Janice's illness and passing. I looked forward to her witty commentaries on social media. I was Class of 1983 at WTHS but she was a larger than life figure of sorts through her involvement in so many activities, Band, Drama Club, the Hear Ye, the school newspaper, and so many other things lost in time. She had so many talents, so gifted. She touched people whether she realized it or not. I became aware of that from seeing her in some of the stage productions she was in, notably "Fall of the House of Usher", "Bye Bye Birdie", and her marvelous starring role as Liili/Kate in Cole Porter's "Kiss Me, Kate". LIttle did I realize it at the time but the infatuation I felt for her in character as Kate was the magic of theater in action, and from that time on I became a supporter of theater wherever I can. I developed a better appreciation for the golden age of American 20th Century music, the age of "Tin Pan Alley', certainly opened up the world of music I had heard before but not studied in depth. I can never thank her enough for helping that to happen. Janice was a great writer. I think she could have written the Great American Novel if she chose. She was without peer as editor of the Hear Ye. Her concise, pithy wit was always in evidence. Sadly though we never really were introduced or had common interests. That would have been nice, but that is sometimes how the world works. But the impact she had on all of us endures. For most of the next forty years I had no idea what became of her, how she made out, what she did, but social media changed that. Some of her mutual friends were also mine, so lo and behold I began to see her comments on their posts. I was getting caught up with what she was doing, drips and drabs, here and there. But it was still a shock to see that she had passed away. Maybe I thought she would live forever. When you don't see someone for that long they remain in your mind as they last appeared. So it was comforting to know that, except for when the sickness began to take its toll, she was basically the same person as she was 40 years ago. I should hope that, for me anyway, that is a sign of a life well lived. It seems to me to be the case from all the reactions and tributes that have poured in. So Janice Bridget, may your rest comfortably and enjoy this next phase for you, and may you find yourself in a place that looks way more than incidentally like the mother country, old Erin. David A. Oh my! I was traveling and heard by way of a Citibank friend. I worked, traveled and laughed with Janice as we worked to install a new approval system for Citibank. She always sent a gift to me and my daughter Danielle at Christmas. She encouraged my wood turning. So enjoyed her stories of her family and friends. She will be missed.

Sending loads of tender loving care to the close friends and family of our beloved Janice. She was so intelligent & witty, which made her a lot of fun to work with. She cared deeply about others, allowing us to make low-stakes mistakes in order to learn. I wasn’t inner circle, so I didn’t know about her illness; I was shocked to learn of her passing. Janice we worked together all over the world for many years. I always enjoyed and respected working with you. I'm quite sure everyone knew your name and of your contributions to FICO. My friend, rest comfortably now free of the pain caused by the cancer and in the loving arms of God.

I met Janice 30 years ago, as my Advisor. Since that time, she was my angel, my best friend, someone I was able to count on. As we got wiser (never old) our friendship also got a different dimension. We were able to speak with only one look, during projects we had together, presentations, workshops. Just a look and all was OK. And with her wonderful smile, a laud laugh, she always picked on me about my “fantastic”; for me everything was “fantastic”… I will miss her. Always in my heart and in my mind. I was extremely sad to hear of Janice’s passing. We conversed periodically, on FB, and I was always interested in hearing about her travels and experiences. She is going to be greatly missed by all of her Literati friends, Catherine Coulter friends, as well as all of her friends in which she shared her love for reading. Prayers for all of her family and friends, and know that she impacted everyone that knew her.

Janice started attending an annual brunch with her Quinn cousins and me a bunch of years back. Knowing she was planning to give out presents to her cousins, but she didn’t know me, she looked me up on Facebook, snipped a good picture from my profile and had them made into magnets for me. I’ll never forget that thoughtfulness! I have always admired and respected Janice, and will continue to. Rest In Peace lovely lady!
