Janet Rhodes
(nee Dorso) On May 5, 2025, of Washington Twp. Age 75. Beloved wife of George M. Rhodes, Jr. Devoted mother of George M. Rhodes, III, and Elizabeth M. Rhodes-Parker (William). Loving grandmother of George, IV, Gabryella, Jayson, and Caleb. Dear sister of the late Nicholas J. Dorso, Jr., and Carmela Wronko.
Janet started her life career as a hair stylist at a prestigious hair salon in New York, NY. She helped to style the hair of numerous TV Soap Opera actresses, singers Judy Collins and Crystal Gayle; Along with TV star Valerie Harper, by whom she was asked to become the personal stylist of and accompany to Hollywood with. Janet instead chose to stay in New Jersey with her loving Husband.
After working in corporate America, Janet turned her life to Christ and her family. She raised two loving children and several dogs and cats. Her grandchildren brought a big smile to her face and a twinkle to her eye every time one of them came into the room. Her devotion and love of Christ grew as she taught and directed a highly successful CCD program. She was able to share her love of God and instill his teachings into their lives. She sang in the choir, acted in several church holiday plays, and the passion play. She continued to teach Sunday School for many years.
Her legacy was her gentleness, kindness, and bright spirit. She was always able to brighten everyone’s day with her beautiful smile and the twinkle in her eyes. She will be missed by everyone, her Husband, her Children, and Grandchildren. God was chosen to bring Janet home at this step in her everlong journey, but her memory will always remain and encompass the hearts and lives of everyone she touched evermore.
Family and friends are invited to attend her viewing Saturday 10:00 am – 12:00 pm at the Egizi Funeral Home, 119 Ganttown Road, Washington Twp. Funeral Service 12:00 pm.
In honor of Janet’s life, in lieu of flowers or other acts of sympathy, her family would encourage any donations to the American Heart Association.
