James Losey
Jimmy is survived by his daughter Heather Bailey (nee Losey) her husband Ray, his brothers Jerry Losey[Charlet], Ted Bodtmann[Elaine] and John Bodtmann[Nancy]. He is predeceased by his sister Pat DeVaul. He also had many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and a large extended family. He was a friend of Bill W., and had a host of long-time friends.
Jimmy was born on July 17, 1957 to Rita Ratigan and Theodore Losey. He left home at an early age and traveled the country as a free spirit. After meeting Heather’s mom in Memphis, TN, he settled back in NJ in 1983. He moved to Kansas in 2009 before returning back to NJ in 2016.
Jimmy was a skilled amateur artist, advocate for the homeless and deeply devoted to maintaining his sobriety. He celebrated 30 years sober this past March. He was passionate about helping others through the program, while maintaining those friendships and impacting lives. He held several benefit concerts and charity drives for the homeless. He would collect toys and clothes, and hand them out to homeless shelters with a Santa Claus on Christmas. His benefit concerts would gather local popular bands and artists, and the proceeds would go towards the charity drives other missions. His work touched the hearts of many.
He will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all who knew him.
Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate Jim’s life Saturday 2:00 PM at the Egizi Funeral Home, 119 Ganttown Rd., Washington Twp. Interment will be private.
