It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of James (Jim) Lawrence Curran, 84 of Sewell, New Jersey. Jim passed peacefully away on Thursday, August 27th, surrounded by his loving family.
Jim is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Joyce (nee Boulton) ; together they built a life rooted in love, devotion and respect. He was a proud father to his two sons, James Patrick and Jeffrey Michael (Julie) and a doting grandfather to his three grandchildren, James Jr., Keeley and Bianca. Jim is also survived by his sisters, Ginni Anne DiAngelo (Louis) and Patti Jo Tracy (Bob). Jim was preceded in death by his father John, mother Gia and sister, Cathy Re Curran.
Jim served his country as a member of the United States Navy. A proud veteran, carrying the Navy values of discipline, duty, and loyalty throughout his entire life. Jim spent part of his service overseas on the USS Thomas J Gary (DER-326).
Jim enjoyed the simple pleasures in life. He loved working in his vegetable garden and watching the birds that visited the many feeders he kept in his backyard. He was an avid sports fan. He also enjoyed placing a bet or two on the horses and taking a chance at the roulette wheel.
Above all, Jim was a dedicated family man, a loving husband, a proud father, a doting grandfather, brother and son. His family was the center of his life.
A military honors service will be held on 9/8 at 1pm at Gloucester County Veterans Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The United Services Organizations (USO).
