Howard “Mike” Fleming, beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on April 26, 2024, in Washington Township, surrounded by loved ones. Born on November 1, 1936, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Dorothy and Howard Fleming, Mike’s vibrant spirit and humorous nature left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
Mike proudly served in the Army Reserves, a period that defined much of his early years. He then embarked on a distinguished 40-year career in the auto industry, where he excelled as a car sales manager across numerous dealerships, demonstrating an unmatched dedication to his work and colleagues.
A devoted family man, Mike is survived by his children, William Fleming (Michele), Monika Gelsomini (Lou), and Michael Fleming (Tara). He was a cherished grandfather to Nicole, Louie III (Ashley), Gianna, Nicholas, and Knox, and a proud great-grandfather to Louis IV, Bella, Jayden, and Giovanni. Mike was the dear brother of the late Robert, David, and Ron Fleming, and was loved deeply by his many nieces and nephews.
A true Philadelphia enthusiast, Mike’s passion for the Phillies and Eagles was only matched by his love for the thrill of the casino and scratch-off tickets. His witty and humorous personality made him the heart of any gathering, and his supportive nature ensured that his family and friends always felt valued and encouraged.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the nursing staff at Jefferson Hospital and the comfort care unit for their extraordinary care and compassion during Mike’s final days.
In accordance with Mike’s wishes, services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to support autism research, a cause close to Mike’s heart.
Mike’s legacy of laughter, love, and resilience will forever be cherished and remembered by those who were fortunate to know him.
