At the age of 16, I gained a mom. A woman who truly cared about me and taught me about the kind of woman I wanted to be. I will always be grateful that she raised the love of my life and welcomed me into their lives with open arms. She wouldn’t allow the suffix ‘in-law’ to enter our vocabulary, as she is my mom, and I am her daughter. She would yell at me, with words from her heart, during times that I was not treating myself with kindness. She was a constant in my life and always showed up for and our family without judgement and with an empathetic ear. I don’t know how she did it, but she always had the right quick witted, yet positive, words to say. She championed her loved ones without fail. More than anything I will be grateful for her active presence in raising our children. Her Oreos and lollipops were never out of reach. Her arms were always ready to scoop up a crying child. She was always there for support when they needed her - physically and emotionally. I wouldn’t be the person, the wife, the mother, that I am today without her in my life. Mom, “you make my heart happy” and I will forever hold a piece of you there 💗
