Helen D. Colella (nee Drwiega), on January 8, 2013, of Washington Twp., NJ. Age 89. Beloved wife of the late James. Devoted mother of Cynthia White, Georgina DeRose (Vincent) and James B. (Jennifer). Loving grandmother of Helaine (Paul), Jimmy, Michelle, Michael, Andrea (Alfredo), Anthony, Nicole, Vincent (Janelle), Jennifer (Frank), Nicholas (Alexandria), Joseph, Paul, Jim, Joey, Thomas, John, Michael, Christopher (deceased), and Stephanie (deceased). Proud great-grandmother of Joe, Nick, Alyssa, Joey, Lauren, Sara, Ava, Madison, Marcella, Rocco, Penelope and Joey. Helen is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Helen was born on November 28, 1923 in Philadelphia, PA. She married Jim in 1947 a WWII Veteran, and soon afterwards bought a farm in Williamstown, NJ where they began to raise their family. In 1964, she and Jim went on to establish James Neckwear Co. in Washington Twp., and successfully ran the business for almost 30 years, along with her son Jim. She retired in 1998. Helen enjoyed nice clothes and shopping, going out to dinner, trips down the shore, knitting, crocheting, and reading. She was proud of her Polish-American heritage, committed to her Catholic faith, and devoted to her family. She loved to share in their special moments. Helen spent her final years at Washington Senior Living, where she made many wonderful friends and memories.
Relatives and Friends are invited to attend her viewing Friday 9:30 – 10:30 am at St. Charles Borromeo RC Church, 176 Stagecoach Road, Washington Twp., NJ. Mass of Christian Burial 11:00 am. Entombment Calvary Cemetery, Cherry Hill, NJ.
