George James Guida,
On October 10, 2017, of Washington Twp. Age 65. Beloved son of Ruth Minix and the late Louis A. Guida. Dear brother of Michael (Lisa), James (Beth), John (Charlene), Catherine McCann (James), Barbara Chrisman (David), David, Mary Seemann (Greg), Annamarie Lacca (Chris), Patricia DiGiacomo (Paul) and Susan Guida. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Everyone who knew George would always have a story to share about him. The stories usually made you laugh but at times could tug at your heart. He was genuine, a big guy with a tender heart.
George had a signature smile. His whole face would light up as he called you out by name. He would appreciate whatever you brought him too but don’t forget the coffee and cigarettes. The simplest things gave George pleasure – money for a vending machine, vanilla milkshakes and Big Macs from McDonalds, rosary beads, wrist watches, funky sunglasses and the mention of his favorite artist, Elvis Presley.
What was especially endearing about George was his heart and soul. You instantly liked him. His unpretentious manner and mischievous grin would soften his imposing six foot stature. He loved his family and friends and often reminiscence about the former places he lived, high school friends, and fond acquaintances.
In a family with eleven siblings, George’s passing has left us less than ten.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing Sunday 7:00 – 9:00 PM and Monday 8:15 – 9:15 AM at the Egizi Funeral Home, 119 Ganttown Road, Washington Twp. Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 AM at the Church of the Holy Family. Interment Gloucester County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Williamstown.
In lieu of flowers, donations in George’s memory may be made to the Brain and Behavior Research Foundation, at www.bbrfoundation.org; or to NAMINJ.org. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.egizifuneral.com.
