Alfred M. “Freddie” Casta
On October 26, 2022. Age 68. Beloved husband of Joni (nee Capetola). Devoted brother of Barbara Knoll (Jack) and the late Mark Casta. Dear brother-in-law of Dina and Joe (Archie) Devine. Cherished uncle of Makenzie (Christopher), Olivia (Christopher), Shani (Jason), and Bryn (Joe). Loving great-uncle of Landon, Sawyer, Sydney, Juniper, Hayden, Joey, Gabby, Cecilee, David, Michael, and Brandon. Caring son-in law of Arthur Capetola
Freddie grew up in South Philadelphia and became a South Jersey resident as a teenager. His passions included music, painting, drawing, designing incredible home and building concepts and golf. With his huge heart and compassionate nature he embraced all animals especially he loved his Border Collies. However, his amazing voice was his trademark! He was a member of many bands over the years including Push and Dynasty. In later years, he was frequently requested to perform at weddings and church services. He also became a mentor to aspiring musicians. His vocal presence was uplifting and created an inspiring connection with the audience.
Through his years as an accomplished builder and a talented gifted artist he continued to make his family, friends, and colleagues so proud. He began as a union carpenter, developed his own business and most recently he was a senior project manager at the Bannett Group and post retirement he was a project consultant for Jefferson Health New Jersey.
Freddie possessed a determination and drive for perfection. No problem was too big or too small to solve. So much so that it transcended all his family’s home projects. He was always there handling everyone’s home improvement needs or just a phone call away.
Loving, funny, endlessly talented, compassionate, radiating positivity and a beacon of strength and faith are just a few words to describe him. He and his wife, Joni, are the examples of soulmates and unending love. Together, they created an amazing life that centered around family, their love of music and meaningful friendships.
He was the best brother and friend to Barb, Jack, Dina, Archie, Sandy and Paul. He was a supportive, present, and loving uncle to all of his nieces and nephews. He was truly a ‘bonus dad’ to his nieces Makenzie and Olivia and their husbands. He was known to all their friends as “Uncle Freddie.” His most cherished day of the week was Sunday because it was dedicated to God, family dinners and of course, golf. He was always proud and bragging about the accomplishments of his family. Over the past five years, he was lovingly nicknamed “GUF’ (Great Uncle Freddie) to Hayden, Joey, Gabby, Landon, Sawyer, Sydney and Juniper. The ultimate playmate, he always knew how to make them smile and laugh.
His passion for golf resulted in many memorable golfing excursions with his dear friends and no one will ever forget the day he shot a hole in one at Scotland Run.
People will always remember Freddie for his kindness and how he made them feel whenever he was with them. Everything he did came from his heart and with great intention. He loved unconditionally and was unconditionally loved by all. His family and friends were so blessed to have him in their lives.
